Hardware Upgrade
As part of the ongoing plans to provide our users with the best motorsport forum online Ten-Tenths are delighted to announce the investment in the addition of a dedicated database server.
Effectively this means that Ten-Tenths now runs over two servers instead of one. By running as a "cluster" the two servers will share the workload and thus give better performance and considerably fewer "Server Busy" messages. Obviously we can't totally eliminate these messages as there are times when even two servers will get busy but with any luck that won't be often. As with any major investment and change there may be a period of fine-tuning while we get the exact configuration of both servers optimised so please be patient if you do get any error messages or have problems getting connected. |

Around 5pm GMT 2nd March the new MySQL server reported hard disk seek errors, these were not affecting the Ten-Tenths database, however, as a precaution the database was moved back over to the current web server and the MySQL server was taken offline.
The hosting company are going to investigate and replace the hard disk starting around 9am GMT 3rd March. Once this work is completed we will re-test the MySQL server and hopefully bring it back online at some point during 3rd March. This will involve the entire site being unavailable for around 30 - 40 minutes. |

We are now back running with the two servers and have been live with both for around six hours. The server load indicators show that both servers are performing better than expected and individual load is considerably less than we projected.
