24h Nürburgring 2008
Hi,
the preliminary entry list of 24h at Nürburgring of this year was now published here: http://adac.24h-rennen.de/uploads/me...g_08-04-23.pdf There are some really interessting entries this year and the changed aerodynamics and wheigt rules for SP7 and SP 8 we will if the Porsches can dominate again. Here some of the interesting entries:
Of course Manthey Racing will the favorite using their Porsche GT3 RSR, as well as Land-Motorsport. Alzen Motorsport will be strong too. There are much more interesting entries, the Aston Martins, BMW Z4, Audi R8... Should be a great event! |

I'm really looking forward to this.
Why is the Hankook / H&R Spezialfedern (Altzen) Porsche classified in SP8 as apposed to the RSR's in SP7 - Is it a 996 GT2? |

Details of the car are unknown, maybe it could be a big surprise. No information is available at the moment, in Alzen's website's guestbook someone claims something BIG is coming... Entry #34 seems to be the VLN-Cup Porsche 997 GT3, maybe as backup car for #4. |

Ahhhhh.... I've looking forward to this too.... and hopefully the wealth of coverage again like we had last year. It was amazing, I had RLM commentary, Live TV feed, Live Ticker and Live Timing, plus Ten-Tenths and the Aston's GPS (it was bit crap though admittedly) to cram into one screen!
Let's hope the rain stays (mainly) away, and the fog doesn't do its 'thing' again. |

Thanks for the clue. I went to their web site and someone is also suggesting a 1300kg easy 997 turbo with a large KKK turbocharger and 1,1bar load pressure, with a Wide Body Look. Wow!, that would be something. |

Not knowing too much about the race, only get the 1 hour coverage about 8 months later on SPEED. Is there a class for either GT1 (FIA or ACO) or P2 or 3 cars in the race?

Nope. The only GT1 car is the Viper, which is allowed to race at the Ring because it's been there for the last ten years and is slowed down by using only 8 cylinders.
There's no class for prototypes of any kind, actually a car brand needs to be recognized by the German authorities in order to be allowed to run in the VLN (Nürburgring endurance series). Hence no Moslers or other more exotic cars. |

Thats what I had figured, think I had heard somewhere they wanted the car to be driven to the track on its own and then raced.

*enough for a pretty full grid in an average series. I think it's also the FIA classification of the track that doesn't allow anything faster than a GT2 on it, at least when driven in anger. |

@F360: Why? The new 500 isn't too different from the masses of Clios and Fiestas... |

I noticed Falken Motorsports participate again, but 'only' using a 350Z. Peter Dumbreck is one of the drivers, where does he drive today, somewhere in japan? I miss him here in europe since Opel left DTM... Team HISAQ Competition also seems to be very strong, based on the VLN results. |

There's a LIVE stream on the net, you know? ADAC, the German motoring organisation hosted last year, and I was watching in the UK. There are some SERIOUS cars out there...
