as long as the new registration form isnt still on your to do list!

but seriously you just got upgraded just in time! seems quite quick if youve got your book and 2011 license back, takes most people like myself 5 months to get everything back with the license being the last,

absolutely normal and as youve just recently upgraded your application is sure to go through no problem presumably

I really don't think that's the case for the majority of us!

Mine took about 2 months - would have been sooner if I'd not sent my PRC to the club secretary's old address!!

My last upgrade took just over seven weeks from the date of the assessment to receipt of the MSA card.

Anecdotal evidence is not good statistics!

Have you ANY evidence whatsoever to substantiate your claim that all upgrades are not treated with equal urgency?

As a "minion" who upgraded from trainee last year from having the assessment on the saturday, I had my new PRC sent through within days and in time for the next weekend. The upgraded license came through during the following week.

To reach the dizzy heights of examining observer (who incidentally is still a marshal just like the "minions" amongst us) I had to upgrade SIX times! I don't recall waiting more than 3-4 weeks on any occasion. Even if it did take longer, I can't really see a problem as it wouldn't affect the ability to carry out marshalling duties any differently whilst the new badge was being processed!

No hard evidence, but do i need hard evidence on this matter? im stating through my experiece that me and the several people ive spoke to have mentioned it took months to get their prc back mid season the average 2/3 months, mine, 3 and a bit months submitted through my club but they stated they despatched to the msa after a week and a bit. so 3 months. rally upgrade took a couple of weeks less which is suprising as not as many rally guys bother with prc's, before anyone asks about that most CM's/SC ive come across seem taken aback to see one ive even had it a few times im asked "what's this!". im sure others are processed quicker, maybe its down to the time of year or if a marshal is known to the msa or not or its just luck of the draw whether processing an upgrade takes weeks or months

wow that is lightning quick, i dont know what you did or if you caught the right time but no license is usually processed that quick!

may i ask have you taken "minion" the wrong way? if so i can assure you as with quite a few things i say it was meant in jest.

i can believe that and as long as you have a backup prc its ok, i dont know about you but i was told to include the marshals license in my for my upgrade, but technically as we know the license needs to be carried around everywhere and to get our cards signed anyway, i photocopied my license which wouldnt have counted just for my own piece of mind to prevent me from not getting an attendance signature but was never asked for it anyway.

Yes, without facts it's just an unfounded allegation.

Can you honestly, hand on heart, say that no Post Chief has ever asked to see your MSA card when signing your PRC - maybe even pointed out that it needs a photo & signature to be valid?

Or am I the only Post Chief who is pedantic in such matters?

who's this judge judy!

hahaha ive always had my card signed and had a photo on soon as it came through the post and when i seen everybodys prc's in the cardholders at training day i went to, i copied that and put my license on the cover but when i didnt have my new license back in until about mid september time i never had one pc asking me where my license was and i preferred that and it was a good job they did because i wouldnt have been able to show them, i could have pulled my rallying license out with signature and photo out i suppose but it depends on how far theyd have liked to have pushed the matter...

am i right in saying you yourself (i believe) and many others have pulled up the issue up, it may change or it might become worse as the new system comes in, might have the photo on already but how likely is it credit card style licenses get lost!

My Rally Licence from Trainee to Marshal took 7 days from posting to receipt, as did my Speed, plus I received by return an additional record card as mine was full and I needed a new one for the following weekend. My Race from Trainee to Track took two weeks, which included adding an additional Specialist Trainee grade to it!

I have full praise for how quick they have dealt with everything each time, and how helpful they are on the telephone.

Not a problem in 99.9% of cases; however, at one meeting this year I was presented with a scruffy, dog-eared PRC to sign. When I asked to see the MSA card, after rummaging among three or four more equally scruffy, dog-eared PRCs, out came a multi-folded, falling-apart MSA card with no photo or signature - & they wonder why their upgrades take a long time to come through!

Nobody's "pulled up the issue up (sic)"; it's always been a requirement. Keep the MSA card & the PRC in the plastic wallet supplied by the MSA. . . no problem!

"Supplementary regulations" for posts that I'm running in 2012 onwards......PRCs that don't have accompanying MSA registration cards (paper or plastic), PRCs that don't have photos, personal details and are not presented at the start of the day will not be signed by me. You will also miss one session by sitting on the "Thinking Step" whilst contemplating the error of your ways!!!!! Be warned!!!!

Guys

I don't think your strictures on proper presentation of paperwork really help. Some of us are not good at paperwork, some of go marshalling to get away from it.

Personally I look to see if a marshal is prepared to do a good job, has a good attitude and supports the team. If that's true then I don't really give a hoot if they have a photo on their card or have signed it. I might gently point out the consequences; after all they might be working for you next week, , but we are there to enjoy ourselves and have a good time delivering good quality support to the racing.

The grading side of life needs to be kept in proportion.

Regards

Jim

Don't confuse ten-tenths with real life!

. . . and with the new MSA cards we can't forget the photo!
