Another seat fixing question...
Afternoon all,
I'm about to buy some side mounts for a Sparco seat. There are two main options; alloy or steel. The alloy is about twice the price. I'm guessing they are lighter but does anyone know how much by? I also would have thought that extruded alloy bent to form the mounts and then subjected to the loads they will be, would be susceptible to stress fractures. Anyone any advice which ones to get? Cheers. |

the works teams will all use alloy ones so cant be too bad (i guess)
Both will be subject to the same FIA test parameters anyway... |

I use alloy mounts, much better than steel ones.
It dose justice if youve had an accident, steel ones generaly bend/deform after/during an accident. alloy dose not it alot firmer |

Ive just bought the sparco adjustable ones, alloy is more rigid, the brackets are thicker, as steel is rtonger . . .but its still much lighter . . .it was only £35 or so.

Cheers chaps, I went for the Sparco fixed alloy ones. They seem much lighter, although no-one seemed able to tell me the actual weights.
