Licence Confusion.......

I'm looking at going rallying later on in the year (as a co-driver for a friend of mine) and am in the process of sorting out everything we need in order to get up and running. We've got the blue book etc. from the MSA but are slightly confused as to what licences we'll need (we've spoken to people at the rally schools at Silverstone and Brands Hatch and have got diferent answers).

Essentially what I need to know is what type of licence do I need and what type does my driver need? We're not planning on doing any international events, and for now will be sticking to doing tarmac events. Can anybody give me a definitive answer? Ta very much.....

I'm afraid I have no idea, but here are the pages (including an application form) from the RACMSA's website www.msauk.com that refer to this:

http://www.msauk.org/Go_motorsport/licences-DEC-02.htm

The pdf of the licence notes are available here.

The driver will ned a National B stage rally licence, this will involve passing the BARS course.

The co - driver just needs a non-race national B (about £30 from the MSA.)

That is the definitive answer.

Be aware of the car regs as its easy to miss important bits. PM me if you want more info.
