Jordan driver announcements-when?

Anyone out there know what's going on with Jordan's empty seats?

The list of names linked to them is extremely long. Verstappen with Trust money is one suggestion, Nick heidfeld has been linked although he may not have the neccessary sponsorship. Ford are said to prefer Allan McNish, and B&H may want a British driver - Firman may keep his seat while Wilson is anotehr option. F3000 ace Jaroslav Janis (who was the subejct of my first ever post on this site) has tested for them, as has Bjorn Wirdheim. Perm any 2 from those I guess.

McNish is the only one with 'two tick's' against his name there...he's British and then as you mentioned he's Ford's favourite..

Yeah they might announce it before the season starts, if we're lucky.

I agree with you. I think McNish is better than Verstappen, but albeit not by much. But in their position, Jordan aren't really going to get a really good driver.

Well I dont support drink driving, but McNish is ok

As for the announcement, the short answer is "as soon as the cheque clears". The 2 Jordan cockpits will be occupied by the largest bags of money Eddie can hire.

We shall call them, B1 and B2.

I hope it's Heidfeld and Firman. Jordan would have the weakest lineup on the grid if they ended up with Verstappen and McNish.

Maybe if EJ collects US$5 from everyone on the list, the budget problem would be solved

Sadly Verstappen/McNish offers the most in terms of dollars. Heidfeld/McNish would be my preferred lineup, but I'm not holding my breath...

Heidfeld would be the best replacement for Fisichella. Experienced, proven to be a match for Kimi at Sauber, he is way ahead of McNish (usually slower than the very average Salo at Toyota) and Verstappen.

I'm sure Palmer is persuading B+H that Wilson is a better bet, and convincing Ford what good PR would come from rescuing their redundant rookie's career, so Heidfeld and Wilson would be best

Yeah, I was thinking that about Wilson - surely if Ford were keen to repay this gratitude for Wilson's half a season with them, then pushing for a Jordan drive would make sense.

Though it would be quite a sight the two of them driving it - either Wilson will be squatting in it like a gokart or Nick'll need stilts to reach the pedels.

And i'm still hoping that it will be Verstappen and McNish. Biased as I am, McNish is not to bad, is a nice guy AND Verstappen will prove to be faster than his team mate, in qualifying AND in the race. And that will be something new.
