Yep.
Autosport reported last week this would happen - and that Seoul is definitely off. No new events for this year, but Seoul, Calgary, San Jose and Buenos Aires are among those being looked at for 2005. |

I think in particular growth in South America is a positive. There is some big money that the series could use in South America.

I am very much looking forward to speaking with John Lopes of OWRS and asking him about the TBA announcement he said would be forthcoming while speaking in Denver.

The problem is the same in South America as it is in Europe and Asia. Surfers was counting on reduced expenses by sharing them with Seoul but that didn't happen, so Surfers' budget takes a big hit.
It's why the USGP and Canadian GP were run back-to-back, as an expense-sharing deal for both. Argentina is a possibility only if it's linked to a Brazil race financially and no one has stepped up yet in Brazil and Fittipaldi's been working for months on it. Same with Europe. If they can get two promoters over there, they might be able to make something work. |

Pretty simple to figure out ways to cut expenses to make stuff work. F1 has done it numerous times in various places. Back when CART scheduled the European vacation, it was common knowledge and even said by Pook that they had to have two over there to make it work.
If you challenge it, just where is the wheelbarrowful of Argentine money coming from to do this? Brazil just lost its MotoGP because of heavy bucks. Others on this forum have been skeptical about international touring series coming back to Argentina because of bucks. Fittipaldi and Kalkhoven made appearances together in Brazil early this year trying to get something going for a race and/or a Fittipaldi race team. Neither has happened. The old phrase: "Follow the money." It applies. |
