How do we get and keep new marshals?
I may be getting a little long in the tooth (no jokes CrazyStu!), but in the last couple of years I have noticed fewer and fewer novice marshals on post. I know this is something that other people have probably mentioned before and I know that the clubs are looking at this problem too.
However, more worrying is the number of 'seasoned' marshals, often Observers, Examining Observers or battle-hardened I/Os who are hanging up their Probans due to disillusionment and lack of morale. I for one have seriously reduced the number of days I am marshalling this year. Has anyone got any ideas of something practical we could do to stop both ends meeting in the middle? |
