Hell Yes! Somewhere between 50 and 100 thousand (depending on which wildly exaggerated figure you read) British fans went down to Le Mans this year but it got barely more than the briefest of mentions in the mainstream press. Admittedly it got some coverage on terrestial tv for the first time in ages, which at least goes some way in bringing the event to the public attention.

The race didn't even make the front cover of this week's Autosport mag either.

There was a HUGE amount of tv coverage on Le Mans. Look East kept having reports on Bentley returning and I watched loads of LIVE coverage on Eurosport. Channel 4 had f**k all on daytime tv, their LIVE stuff was during the night.

Hardly any? I didn't notice enough coverage for it to be called hardly.

Next year all you have to do is connect to www.radiolemans.com for live coverage throughout the race.

As to is it worth anything - yes it is, it's the greatest race in the world from a spectator's point of view; you get to watch from so many corners, meet loads of fellow enthusiasts and just bathe in a motor racing atmosphere for days (or daze).

kpy, you've missed the point I think. We know it is a great race, and about Radio Le Mans, but coverage in Australia was less than pitiful.

Hardly a question from someone who knows it's a great race.

And Radio Le Mans is available in Oz too. Just like being there without getting wet and cold. If you mean TV coverage, well endurance racing isn't the best subject for that (hence Bernie's little Sunday sprints) and with the weather conditions as they were we couldn't make out much from the diamond screens trackside.

Hope you make it to the Sarthe soon - it's worth it.

something decent in the U.S. for a change...'surprised(then again, not really) no one here has posted this previously...we had live coverage from 1/2 hour beofore 'til 1/2 after via Speedvision (cable TV station). "Same with the Rolex 24 at Daytona, Sebring 12, and the upcoming Petite LeMans at Road Atlanta.
