Where are all the marshals?

After a particularly nasty off tonight at Lodge in my Clio, I was a bit disconcerted that not one marshal came to my assistance.

On closer inspection the marshal points were EMPTY, not even a lone pork pie was present!

Can anyone explain this?

--------------------------------------------------------

I would point out that this was whilst playing TOCA3 on the XBOX!

This game models (supposedly) race car dynamics and the tracks to the nth degree. There are trackside marshal points for all circuits (I've raced all over UK, and Australia in the Clios) but there's no marshals home. At Combe there's a loopy photographer behind a dubious tyre wall at a couple of corners, but nothing else)

I will be writing to Codemasters - but this seems an ideal platform to get some marshal recognition.

I'm here!... thinking I really should go downstairs and have something to eat. Particularly as I only logged on to check my e-mail (2 hours ago...)

I'm a bit surprised the circuits had marshals posts present at all. Can you imagine having to stop a session on a computer game because marshals are on the track? I wonder if they'd let you play as a marshal? (I have decided I am no good driving with those game controllers - having comprehesively crashed my RX8 on the straight on "very very easy" setting)

Definitely not!

My sister bought me "Sega GT Online" (or something) because it had an RX8 on the cover. It allows you to choose your race car so naturally I had a dark grey RX8. Luckily, on the "very very easy" setting you just bounce of the barriers without leaving any dents. I may have to invest in a proper steering wheel...

Reading that post back, it's stunning how true to life the game is becoming, or is it the other way around?

The Combe snappies are all as mad as buckets of frogs.

My Toca 2 (PS1) has ONE marshal in the pitlane!
It must be the same marshal at ALL venues though, as he wears a flat cap and a green bodywarmer!

If you play Gran Turismo 4 on the PS2 they have loads of marshalls on the street courses. Having said that they just stand there even if you crash into the post. Not very realistic

On GP3 they stand trackside waving flags, and don't seem to mind if you drive straight through them.

I quite like how in GTR, the normally cool sounding mechanic on the Radio changes his tune if you have a heavy shunt. If you slam it into a wall hard enough, he has a pannic and in an almost tearful voice goes...

"Are you alright in there, Don't move until the marshals get to you"
