Rosberg signed for 2nd Williams test role

Williams have appoint Nico Rosberg as their 2nd test driver for the remainder of this year. He will test with Williams at Silverstone today.

According to SFW, the team needed to run a 2nd test driver to relieve the workload on Pizzonia and both race drivers.

Andy Priaulx has also been offered more test outings for Williams. He will run at some more test days during the season and also drive the car in BMW marketing events - including the BMW Power Festival at Rockingham.

Info from Motorsport News.

Rosberg's been hired to do the "donkey work" - ie put mileage on new parts etc, while Priaulx has been hired primarily for promotional stuff, it seems.

First steps towards an increased testing load, and therefore a move towards breaking the 30 day testing limit?

Time will tell...

No - it's more about running two cars on the same day!
