Still 8 seconds faster than the car's previous incarnation, and despite teething trouble, turned in considerably more laps than it did as an AMR-One.

The fastest lap times that tarpon posted are wrong. See http://fiawec.alkamelsystems.com/Res...02_ByClass.PDF
  • #2 Audi: 3:25.927
  • #7 Toyota: 3:27.204
  • #21 HPD: 3:34.243
  • #13 Rebellion: 3:35.357
  • #17 Dome: 3:37.149
  • #16 Pescarolo: 3:40.385
That is a difference of more than 3 seconds between the two Pescarolo cars.

alexkiller8 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
not so optimistic results talking about performances, the 03 ran 5 seconds off the pace of the best private lmp1, and the 03 ran more than 7 seconds slower than the detuned 01 evo in 2011 specs... if the team doesn't find a good set-up in these days will compete only against the best lmp2 cars...
The oak pescarolo ran even slower (but i think that crashed during morning session), but at least the morgan powered by nissan marked the best lmp2 timelap.

only 20 laps for the PESCAROLO team , electric problems (yet) for the Dome, gearbox for the AMR .

Crashed in the morning session, Guillaume Moreau hospitalized with a back injury and very likely to miss Le Mans; car was repaired in time for the last hour of the afternoon session, and it did turn some laps in that last hour.

the gap beetween both Toyota engines may answer the question ABOUT EQUIVALENCE,when a company like Toy wants to make a gas engine competitive, they do . I imagine the reaction of Porsche .

Get Guy Smith in it. Or call up Thiago Monteiro like last year.

Lahaye out injured last year, Moreau this time around.

So... despite being restricted by the lack of resources, constant fighting with 'partners' and... err REGULATIONS(!), Henri still did a much better job with the AMR-One tub than the DW/Highcroft guys.

well and so?
peugeot 908HDi was in the peak of the updates and had a 800hp engine; while the audi r15+ was a better developed version of r15. I wrote about the power output, but is clearly that these cars had a much better aero than the lola aston...
engine alone doesn't make the performance.

You mean because the Delta Wing is actually hitting the target lap time it was intended to, while the 03 is last in its class except for the car that crashed? Not knocking Henri, but that comparison is very unfair.

In what respect?

The DW is effectively an LMP2-level car and has hit its target laptime. It's a much more complex project with highly different goals. It has been incredibly successful so far.

Henri, meanwhile, has a lot of work to do to achieve his goals.

Oh, sorry, I keep forgetting that it was intended to be slow. Which proves that one can really build a moderately slow car that obeys no technical regulations and even though it's triangular it won't fall over. But proving such a point seems like waste of a monocoque. I'd rather see another 03 in the race.

Sorry for the OT.

http://www.pescarolo.com/news.asp?news=188 has a short report about the test day. The Pescarolo 03 suffered some teething problems: the heavy vibrations of the Judd V8 caused the rupture of a mechanic component twice, which lead to some downtime for the repairs. No big surprise because the Pescarolo 03 is brand new.

On Tuesday Pescarolo will do another test at the Bugatti circuit with both cars.

If Pesca can make the AMR tub fly, I think Prodrive has some questions to answer.

We won't get answer from them but the reason why the AMR was slow was a duff engine and basic, sub-standard aerodynamics. The tub was not the issue and if Henri is right, then the tub was actually the strong point.

I think it has to be said, your constant open dislike of the DW is really boring us - sorry, but it's the truth. Find another soapbox or at least keep it to the DW thread.

http://soundcloud.com/tdean-1/henri-...o-journ-e-test has a short interview with Henri Pescarolo.

The first failure caused by the heavy V8 vibrations was a pulley for the alternator and the second failure was related to the clutch. They lost two times two hours to repair these teething problems.
