Its still a fantastic circuit and one which they haven't felt the need yet to tarmac over every piece of grass and gravel, so for that it should be held aloft as some kind of treasure.

I do hope F1 leaves there eventually and it can be used for other more interesting series, I know this is unlikely but I would rather see WEC there than Fuji, F1 can go there thanks. It was ruined for F1, so it can go back there!!

Managed about 5 minutes of watching the yawnfest highlights, am still utterly staggered by the amounts of people who feel the need to pay big money to watch this live, the appeal is lost on me, yet I feel somehow drawn to wonder what on earth people see in it!!

I would not like to see F1 leave Suzuka. It has a great atmosphere and is one of the few challenging circuits left on the calendar

Agreed, mind you a bit hard to look in the mirrors both left then right in that split second, however yes he is to blame more than anyone.

my take as well. was it Ant in the commentary box this weekend? because i actually looked up who is DR's manager wondering if Ant has gotten into that side of F1 things!

im fine with it being labeled a racing incident but when its two drivers, both of whom are under a lot of scrutiny at the moment, even a slightly biased commentary could have significant knock on effects for one or the other.

Agreed. It was a racing incident. But they were determined to find someone but Daniel to blame.

Also, not to be harsh, but yeah it might be a racing incident, but it becomes difficult to put it down to that when he needs a fresh excuse every week.

I've been an F1 fan and latterly enthusiast since 1982. That's a lot of eras, a lot of changes, and an awful lot of laps. There's more to F1 than one race, it's a year long season, the intrigue and shenanigans never stop whether I like them or not. I can watch a single race and it could be amazing or dreadful but it's just one part of a whole - and that's a whole for me which is now in its fifth decade.

I've been a Manchester United fan for even longer - and I still am, despite them not being at the peak right now. There's more to most sports than just one match, race, or season.

Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment!

Not wanting to "pile on" here but I seem to recall you asking an almost identical question in 2023, when you were posting a number of negative thoughts on F1. Maybe go back to that post and see the answers that people gave you there?

Personally, I find F1 is genuinely the pinnacle world wide, it can vary from year to year as teams build new cars each year, have different driver combos etc. The cars get pushed to the absolute limit and drivers have to push themselves to get to the limits of the car - once they're beyond that, they can retire to other forms of racing (such as WEC) which are far less intense, or they can retire completely.

chilli just picking up on your comment about both drivers being under a lot of scrutiny..

poor word choice on my part to use the word 'scrutiny' for both drivers...in regards to Albon, was trying to allude to there being extra attention on whether or not he is a safe pair of hands given Williams' chassis issues....and even that is probably more down to how im perceiving his situation.

Same here, but what I can't figure out still is why I lose interest about halfway through a T20 match but I could easily.. EASILY sit and watch all 5 days of a test match.

Please don't say it's an age thing....
