The359 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
SpeedTV.com reports that Don Panoz is insistant that PTG will have the Abruzzi race car ready in time for Petit Le Mans. It will however not be homologated in time and will run as an invitational entry.

I'm not holding my breath, but we'll see. I've learned to take such announcements with a grain of salt.

Theysure don't have much time to build the car up. Don said the chassis was delivered to ptg two weeks ago. Sounds like they will put a roll cage in it and go racing.

6 weeks to build the car for the crew at PTG should be more than enough time! I would think that Milner has been in the loop all the while and has had lots of time to pre- many of the things that are going in. This is not expected to be the final version of the Abruzzi GT that will be on the grid in 2011.

As to salt, the road department in my neighborhood salts in both directions!

Mosport is over, and it is slightly over a month until go time.

When are the names going to be released?

Came out Sept. 4th last year, about 3½ weeks in advance of the race. So I would venture sometime between now and Sept. 10th. Hopefully it will be when they confirm the 2011 Sept. 3rd round's venue, which might be as soon as Friday.

Technicalities.

He never said the IRL and ALMS announced it.

The article clearly states at the end: "Baltimore Racing promoters declined to comment further about the race weekend until the official announcement next week."

So we're just waiting for official confirmation of the confirmation of the confirmation of the c.... of the news.

Well lets not forget the original question and why that round was even referenced! The release of the entry list for Petit and the time frame in which it would happen.

It is called, context.

Just thinking about the large expected entry list, and after some of the carnage of the past weekend at Mosport, I wonder how many cars that showup for practice at Road Atlanta won't make the race because of accidents. It has nearly happened in the recent past with the Pugs and the Highcroft car and if you have had non starters for mechanical reasons too (Eco). So if the entry is over 50 I wonder if we will actually see that many take the green flag on Saturday.

Yeah, every year this is a concern. Mosport and Road ATL are awesome circuits, but with the exceptions of a few corners combined at both tracks, there is no small shunt.

That's motor racing, and we can only hope for the best.

"We are a single point ahead of BMW and only 11 points ahead of Ferrari in the manufacturers championship, so there is still lots of work to be done, and there will be some additional Porsches at Atlanta to help us. We don’t just want the drivers title we want it all,” said Long, who won the title with Joerg and the Lizards a year ago as well."

Pat Long seems to be under the impression there will be more Porsche GT2's at Petit Le Mans, so if not from Europe where are they coming from?

Maybe a second Falken entry? Or maybe no one told Pat that the big Euro entries weren't coming at this point

In light of no confirmed European based operations making the trip, the options look like -
  1. Kicking Seth out of the #44, bring out the #46?
  2. Falken bringing the updated 2008 car and loading with Factory Drivers

Vici Racing is a Florida based team and still has a 2009 car.

Those seem like the most likely choices.

Or maybe he's hoping one or more of the Ferraris get hit by a GTC car?

I did hear the Falken 09 car is for sale.

In addition to the Vici chassis, I wonder where Black-Swan's 911 GT2 ended up, gathering dust somewhere? Remember, it tested at Sebring.

I believe Pappas still has it.

Vici just moved into new digs.

Cars just don't appear out of thin air and there are plenty of VLN Porsche drivers available, there's a gap in the schedule, those drivers will be available.

Not sure how many cars Flying Lizards has.

Well it looks like the entry will not start with a "5" but will be 48 according to EI.

I always had doubts it would get to 50, but 48 works for me.

*Anxiously awaiting to see who the 48 are, as well.*
