Briscoe dumped.

Briscoes chance of a drive in Champ Car took a huge nose dive today when the PKV team, that he was hoping to drive for, signed someone else.

If he's that good then why have all the teams he has raced for in the last few years ended up dumping him and no other team has taken him on?

Toyota signed him for their F1 program and he didn't graduate past being just a test driver. Ganassi dropped him from their IRL team and PKV tested him and didn't sign him.

Not a great reflection his abilities is it?
Maybe there is something "missing" in him, that makes the difference between being a good and a top driver?

They signed Oriel Servia. Has Briscoe any chance of getting the Team Australia seat instead of Tags??

Apparently not, according to something I read in a magazine recently (I think it was Auto Action).

It just makes me question his real ability. Lets face it if he was red-hot then none of those three big-budget teams would have let him go.

So, is this heading towards whether he's good enough for V8's.

More would like to be one...see how he goes..My feelings are he will struggle, after his shambolic effort in the IRL.

Not quite.
He will drive a 3rd car for Team Australia if he/they can find the funding. Tag stays in the original two car team.

Briscoe is hunting around trying to find the sponsorship to buy the drive.
Not a great position to be in......

[I]Errrr...because Briscoe is a touring car driver.

Dude, comparing The V8 supercars to touring cars is almost, but not quite like comparing southern right whales to bedside table lamps.

Carry on…….

Personally I think if Briscoe is giving a decent ChampCar drive, like Will Power, he's gonna impress. Just because he wasn't offered the drive doesn't mean he's no good. It just means that they think there's someone better - that doesn't neccesarily make it true.

Briscoe just like Webber still have a lot to prove. In hindsight, giving up the Jordan drive was probably a mistake. Driving around in circles doesn't seem to really help one's F1 career.

His career to date has already exceeded that of most of the current V8 and many past drivers. I don't think HRT have anything to worry about.

What about toyota, is he still signed with them ???? He did a f1 test earlier in the year for them, so they have not totally forgotten about him.

If not-that-exceptional Power is nearly as good as Tags after 2 bloody races, then Briscoe will run rings around the both of them!

A future in CC is not in doubt I reckon.

As for Briscoe not good enough for V8s, the likes of Marshall are in V8s so that's that shot to bits right there!

Briscoe looks like replacing Tag at Team Australia going on the rumors on www.autoracing1.com I hope he gets a drive as he is bloody quick on street and road courses. Look what he did in the IRL when it was the road courses, on pole I believe.

I blame it all on Niki Lauda, after he blamed Ryan for the Jaguar crash (even though it was a mechanical failure) and subsequent loss of the F3 title.

When did Brissco drive JAG F1 I always thought he drove a Toyota, are you not getting him mixed up with James Courtney.

This thread was not meant be slagging Briscoe....my point was that if some of the best funded teams in each of their series (Toyota F1, Ganassi IRL, PKV Cart) have all recently used Briscoe in their programs and have all either dropped him or not continued to use him - or take him any further in their programs - then surely it shows some sort of weakness in his overall abilities?

To me, like I suggested earlier, it sends a message that he must be merely a 'good' driver rather than a 'great' one.

That is all I was trying to say.....
