Apparently there is some confusion over whether Top Gear will return. Clarkson said last week that it would be back in the summer but in his last column for The Sun he said: "Can I just say, here and now, it won't be". But the BBC say it will be back, albeit in Autumn, with a special episode in Summer.
But anyways, look out for "Top Gear of the Pops" this Friday, 22:00 on BBC2! |

bu why would the show be axed when its so popular. its one of my favourites. it still has the essence of cars in it, although they have gone a bit OTT. but that can be put right. personally i think this is just specualtion that turns out to mean nothing.

If they do cancel it, I shall be asking for my license fee back as it's the only programme I actually watch on the BBC! (Although somehow I doubt I'll get it...)

Clarkson said that was all a misunderstanding - he said TG wouldn't be returning in the Summer (i.e it was returning in the Autumn) not that it wasn't coming back at all. He apparently says so in his newspaper column.

I was going to say that perhaps the BBC got a heavily increased insurance premium follwing Hamsters crash.
But if Clarkson has said it's a misunderstanding then I guess they'll be back! |

As for stereo-typing presenters - do you think that James May is really Keith Flint from the Prodigy, pretending to be a floppy-haired semi-Toff? Or that The Hamster is really rugby-player Martin Johnson crouching, so as to look small?? And that Clarkson isn't just as opinionated as he's always been? They aren't acting. Playing it up just a little, perhaps but under it all, if there wasn't a camera there, they'd be the same. As James May says, "it's basically just three blokes, cocking about..." If you want facts, figures and sensible non-partisan opinion, read What Car and leave my Top Gear alone... Last edited by Knowlesy; 25 Mar 2007 at 19:12. Reason: Autocensor dodge, bad Haven! |

I am watching 'Best of Top Gear' on BBC2 now...if you wanted proof of what Top gear needs to return to being like, this programme is a good base. So much better than series 9 was.

I think in last months topgear magazine clarksons article did talk about the fact the series 9 was mostly based on the large chalenges, features etc that they had already planned for, and already shot during the summer, and with the series being shortened they decided to use all these features with very little actual car reviews, comparisons etc. Clarkson did realise series 9 was a bit different to S8.
