2009 News, Rumours, Entries...

I know it's early, but that's the style nowadays.

Off the top of my head:

*SEAT and Danielsson Motorsport is working towards a 2009 campaign with what they call a "dream team". Given DMS' and Alx' track record I'm not holding my hopes out. If everything goes according to plan they intend to present the programme in detail sometime during the autumn.

*Carl Rosenblad and Jens Edman are trying to put togeather a two-car team for next year. Edman would however need to bring a budget for the team to get off the ground, and as long as that's the case I'm not convinced we'll see it happen.

I have no idea how likely it is for these new teams to show up next season but it shure would be nice! I think both could be potential front-runners and the STCC field needs more cars.

With the same cars?

Or with never cars, and what about the engine dispensations. Is that an issue in the STCC, because it is in the DTC.

Secondly, is the Chevrolets in the STCC not supported by Chevrolet dierctly, hence the lack of Chevrolet livery?

They are supported by Chevrolet Scandinavia and Sweden as you can see in our article.

Guess they will continue with the same car.

stedevil has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Well, if the livery wasn't Cheavy enough it will be. Cheavys WTCC team will borrow the car for the last WTCC meatings this year for their extra Japanese driver.

Meanwhile, what I want to know is, even if they might stick with the car chassis, will they stay with the old Open engine, or will they switch to the newer turbo that I presume will be in the SAAB? Or is the older chassis not well suited for the new engine?

Ah yeah, the turbo spark combustion regs was from 2010, not 2009.

Tobias Johansson said yesterday that he will reveal the plans for next season within the next few weeks. He said he is looking at a new project, one can only guess what it is this time?

I'm not a big fan of that Scirocco, but I love the fact that there's yet another private S2000 car development One can only support such developments!

Liquified Petroleum Gas as fuel. Wow, that sounds interesting. I can even see VAG being interested in the environmental friendly marketing & development boost likely to come from being part of such a project. STCC tends to be interested in "green cars" as well, so quite possible they will try to whip up some experimental rules to allow such a car.

I was surprised that this kind of fuel isn't used in roadcars in Sweden at all yet. A lot of cars in Holland do, and it's well available in other European countries as well.

The reason is, as usual, political. About a decade ago there was a law made that required most fuel stations to implement at least 1 alternative fuel to petrol/diesel. The cheapest, easiest and potentially most lucrative (since near 100% of Petrol cars can use it with no or minor modifications) was to add E85. Very very few stations decided to go with any of the alternatives or to go above the law and provide several alternatives. The good thing, E85 is very easily available, the bad, few other options exists outside of the 3 biggest cities still today.
