so is it going to be split despite the fact they could run together? i hope not as i would have liked to see how well bill Richards would do against the higher classes around a tight circuit like lydden.

Can't speak for yesterday but some good racing today, particularly in the second set of DMN races with Rod and the Skyline and Bill Richards and Richard Brent in the other race. Gorgeous weather too, but it was quieter than I was expecting it to be.

BTW what was the TV coverage there today, when / where will it be shown etc?

Certainly was a great weekend, just sorting through all my images at the moment.
MotorsTV were there both days, I think it is due to be shown in about 4 weeks but am sure Rod or someone will be along soon with more definate dates.

Rod Birley should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Motors TV were there on both days. On Saturday the main feature was the ELMS, which will have its own show (produced by "pit lane productions"). Sunday it was a different crew and the feature wil be the "fastest Mini in the world" races, plus the DMN. The producer said he had enough footage for two 30 minute programmes which will go out on a Friday evening at around 7PM, in about four weeks time. Once I know the exact times (it is usually repeated three or four times) I will post them on my website and on here.

Thanks to Rob Morris and Rod Birley for creating a very special weekend at Lydden. Certainly one of the best ever.

Thanks to Rod, Cheryl & every one at Lydden for another great weekend racing in the sun. I wish I knew how you arranged the weather.

Cracking racing from the DMN again - the grids may have been a bit smaller than we're used to but some good stuff nonetheless. Good to see Rod having to work hard for a few laps - that Skyline is starting to look like it could take a win at some point. The BMW was a fantastic looking (and sounding) car too - good scrap with Rick May in the second race, good to see someone driving round the North Bend in the style of Mr Thurston as well

The C,D,E races saw some nice scraps too, Graham Bahr looked very racey latching onto Richard and Bill in both races. I felt sorry for Alex Ribbens though, he looked to be going well to start with but suffered engine gremlins in both races.

i really enjoyed the DMN races, particularly group 1 (A&B) really enjoyed the battle between Woody, Andy Wickens and of course Steve Dann, unfortunately wasn't paying much attention to what was going on elsewhere in the race, 2nd race aswell with Steve passing the Seat of Cris Hayes.

Thought everyone drove exceptionally well considering how hot it was, felt sorry for Alex too, i know he had people come to support him yesterday, well done Alex, i'm sure you've probably already had the car apart to try and resolve the problem!!!!

roll on the next round, just hope i make it!!

The green BMW driven by Frank Nohring is a stunning car and not surprisingly he took the best prepared car award. Good to see all the foreign drivers staying for the prize giving.

It was good to see the BMW there (and I have to say it wasn't what I was expecting!), will he be making any other appearances in the DMN this year?

I was only able to attend the Saturday in the end, but i really enjoyed all the races. With the tintops being the highlight along with the Intermarque. Seeing the 911GT3 fight the TT was great.
Shame i couldnt see the DMN sunday as that BMW looked great in the paddock, i would hazard a guess that somewhere like Snetterton may suit it more then the tight confines of Lydden mind.
Well done to Rod and Bill though, and well done to Rod for his organisational skills, somthing i think the European Late Model people could learn from.....

Loved all the races, they were very good and very clean. We could have done with a few cars more, but still great.
The problem with Nöhring's car was that it is geared for the Nordschleiffe, so just a tat too long for Lydden.

The Germans and the Dutch guy were a bit surprised and baffled when they saw that they "only" had a 15 minute practice, but after the practice they all went like "god, how hard is that" and "never had it so difficult in such a short time", great and wonderful were other words used.
Anyhow they were all very happy and very pleased that they made the effort to be there and swore to be back asap. All made it clear as well that they were made feel very welcome.

Well all my images are sorted and uploading as I type. This includes all the awards for Saturday and Sunday.
They should all be there in about an hour.

You can see them at

Her indoors and I wandered down for this meeting which was sadly very poorly attended but had some great racing. Thanks Rod for taking the time to come over and have a chat after your race; the one with the audacious and very well executed move on the Skyline at Paddock where we were sitting.

The problem with Lydden is the track surface is now quite old and very abrasive. Several drivers have noticed it wears out tyres quite quickly. The Mini drivers were worst affected, some had to pull out of additional races because they ran out of suitable rubber. The increased costs this year are also putting drivers off, which is a shame because the racing can be really close. Some drivers are taking a deliberate stance about this.
