Coming back to the corner 5 reprofiling suggestion, this is what it would look like regarding cross-section of the corner:

It's a bit like the reshaping of corner 4 at Zandvoort, just much less extreme because (1) it's a public road, (2) you want the road to still properly drain to the inside and (3) you don't want the effect to be too strong. You need the difference between the inside and outside line just small enough that with a sufficient pace difference and a perfect execution of turn 4 you could be just close enough to sometimes make it work.

That way you would preserve the unique overtaking challenge of Monaco, but just increase the chances enough to not make as close too impossible as it is now.

I don't think you can really change the corners at Monaco. It's easier on permanent circuits. Personally I don't think there's much wrong with the layout at Monaco, it's all up to as modern standards as possible. And I don't want to lose the spectacle of cars going round there.

Personally I think strategy has become too important that there's reason to overtake, but hopefully it won't last

Red Bull ring ("Eastschleife")

In 2005 there was a plan to reinstate the westschleife of the old Austrian ring:

The remnants of the Westschleife of the old Austrian ring are still there, but would take millions to get back into usable shape. Furthermore in between the westschleife and the current track is a large hill preventing that westschleife to be incorporated back into the circuit in a flexible/creative way and a lot of housing pretty close to the track.

Now what if in stead the track was extended by means of an new to be created "eastschleife"?

To look around that area, follow this link.

Looks like quite some potential for some epic sweeping corners and lots opportunities to incorporate more and more interesting Eau Rouge like elevation changes into the track following the available country side. Of course it would be very expensive as well, even more so than reinstating the westschleife. Given you have to pass parts where there are now tribunes and secondary roads.

Here is an example of what it could look like (of course there would be many different layouts possible):

About the track in Mexico.

I was thinking about not any of the cut backs ever working in the sequence of corners 4, 5 and 6. If they would reduce the distance between corners 4 and 5 by say 5 to 8 meters by moving corner 5 closer to corner 4, I think we would would see some successful cut backs (say like 30% chance instead of the 0% now).

I think if the distance between the corners was reduced just slightly the inside guy from turn 4 would have less distance to recover his compromised position on the the very inside of turn 5. That way the guy on the outside of turn 4 that tries a cut back into turn 5 would have a bit more chance because the advantage going to turn 5 would be bigger with the inside guy being less able to recover his entry into that corner.

That way that whole section and the whole track for that matter would become more interesting, because the overly optimistic move Daniel made yesterday on Tsunoda would actual be a valid one and you gain another valid overtaking option rather than just DRS on the two straights.

In comparison, this is what the layout for that part of the track looked like from 1986-2014.

This image from wiki show the differences well.

Anyway, maybe if they want to try the cheap version of my proposal (after testing it in the simulator), they could just leave the outside edge of corner 5 alone and just move the inner kerb 2m towards corner 4. Maybe it would be enough to help the guy on the outside by shortening the stretch between 4 and 5 a bit and creating more room in corner 5 to try a successful cut back.

To be frank, every change they made to the Mexico track has made it worse.

“Made it worse” makes it sound like it was a bad track to begin with, which is not the case. It was a real drivers’ circuit, in fact I’ve just driven it on Microprose Grand Prix! ‘Ruined’ would be a better use of word

Your right. The circuit has been ruined. Frankly if they intended on making such changes they should have just ripped the whole thing up and done a totally new layout because what is left is, well, awful. It’s up there with the Russia track for awfulness.

In answer to the thread title I would propose that no change anywhere should involve Tilke.
