VLR enter prod class 307's
According to Autosport mag VLR are set to enter two Peugeot 307's in the BTP class of the 2003 BTCC. Tom Boardman is mentioned as being lined up for one car.
Also linked with the team is our own John Batchelor, who is thought to be bringing big name sponsors to the team. I'm sure Craig can fill us in on the details! This VLR BTP team is to run alongside their BTC class plans, although no cars have been mentioned for this yet, but Vic Lee is adamant that the 406's will not be wheeled out by VLR this year. |

Interesting. Could it be that Vic Lee will purchase either the Barwell Astra's or (and correct me if im wrong) 888's 2002 Astras that would have gone to what was team Egg: Sport (presuming they are now dead)?

It says in Autosport that VLR don't want to run the 406's again, so I think the Lexus is as logical a choice as anything as what other cars are on the market!?

John's team will run a pair of Production-spec Peugeot 307s, which have been built by VLR. One for Tom Boardman, and another for Jim Edwards Junior - I guess.
As for what VLR (or 'Team Halfords') might be doing - I don't know. 307s in Touring-class? |

at least 8 astras 6 mgs 4 406's 2 147's 2 protons 4 hondas thats roughly 26 cars btc-p cars it would be good to see some new talent in btcc, not just rich kids naming no names. like the two clio champs |

The Barwell cars have not had their day, they have been fully upgraded to 2002 spec.

It all depends on whether anybody has the finance to buy them and run them. Likelihood is they'll sit about doing nothing for a year.

Have Formula Saloons thought about a catergory for Post 2000 BTCC cars? |

If someone had the money for a pair of the best cars in the field, I'm sure they'd part with the cash for them.

Without wishing to start rumours(!) I did notice that Vic spent a very long time with Danish Champion Jason Watt at the NEC last Thursday. Did he not win with a Peugeot with hand controls last year due to his disability? Perhaps he is coming to the BTCC with Vic. Who knows? It would be fantastic as Jason is such a great character.

Boy it looks like a lot of drivers could be in with a shot of driving those two cars! Just guessing but did VLR build the Pug he raced in Denmark? Or maybe he's speaking to him about building a car for another attack this year?

Or maybe Jason could have been speaking to Vic about the Porsche Carrera Cup thing?

It's getting late for Vic (and John) to be putting lans together, if they are usign a new car (say a Touring spec 307) they will have to have started on developing it by now, or else they will not be competitive.

Perhaps all these new drivers have been used to test the new cars with no intention of taking any of them on, just a clever way of circumnavigating a testing ban. Just an idea, no prior knowledge of course.
