Welcome aboard and feel free to join our Fantasy Racing Grid -- you can join at any time during the year but if you join after Thursday the 20th of February, you have to stick with the choices you made. Up til then you can meddle and rearrange.

Don't mind the ignorance, but who's Craig Lowdnes, & is he a driver?

BTW, for anyone out there, my favorite drivers are:
Juan Montoya
Jimmy Vasser
Alex Zanardi
Buddy Lazier

Favorite team:
Target Chip Ganassi Racing

Craig Lowndes is a Kiwi touring driver that regularly races in the V8 Supercars in Australia. He ran a couple of seasons in the BTCC with poor results, but that may have been more his team shortcomings than him. He seems to be one of the best in the rumbling tourers from down under.

If you're going to hang around here you'll have to change your favorite team.

We also like it when turbos get attached to rotaries...well atleast I do.

I might have to think about that when the season starts. Does anyone know if "Champ Car Magazine" still publishes their season preview??

He's an Australian who drove a car numbered 00, a Ford Falcon v8 in the 2001 & 2002 seasons.

Welcome double00, enjoy yourself. You may care to explain to the Aussies how you came by your handle

A lot of Aussies admire the exploits of the kid over here and you will probably be hearing about him for many many years to come....check him out at..http://www.00motorsport.com.au/

No BTCC either. Did F3000 in 1997, was Juan Montoya's teammate, but came back to Australia for 1998.

Ganassi is a bad word around here. Might be a good idea not to bring him up.

1st...My brothers & I are James Bond fans. I wanted an original name, since 007 is usually taken.

2nd...I had no idea Craig was Montoya's teammate (little/no offshore races are on broadcast television *wishing I could afford cable*). I saw Montoya fot the 1st time in the 1999 CART season.

3rd....Despite whatever issues anyone has w/ Ganassi, I'll still represent *knowing he'll have another Indy 500/Series Championship ring*.

Good for him, but considering he tried to burry CART last year and take as many people with him as he could, he could win all the little plastic rings or what ever it is they win over there and shove them straight up his fat as...........Sorry, forgot my meds. I'm better now, and welcome to the club.

No, it's pretty hard to have any respect for Ganassi, Penski and Andrett/Green considering they were the ones forcing the decisions that would put Cart in the position it was in the offseason. Clearly they only ever had their own wallets in mind and nearly burried Cart. May we never see them again.

I know many people have been bitter since the "split", But I havent completely followed CART since 2000(*** d*** cable channels). Could someone actually please tell me how these men attempted to burry CART since then??

http://www.champcarworldseries.com/News/Article.asp?ID=5445

Read this, but to paraphrase, they went around the paddock badmouthing the series and telling everyone that CART is dead and they should accept it and go with them to the IRL. Some real bitter stuff for all reports. It's one thing to leave a series, it's another to drag it through mud on your way out.

Try again:

http://www.champcarworldseries.com/N...le.asp?ID=5445

That article sums it up well... basically Honda and Toyota with the assistance of Ganassi were going around the paddock at Cart events (such as Montreal) telling them why Cart was dead and why they should abandon it. That's the kind of thing Pook was fighting against last season.

I'm 100% sure the only reason Franchitti and Kannan agreed to jump ship to the IRL is that they were convinced Cart wouldn't exist in 2003 by Honda & Andretti. I have absolutely no doubts that they are seriously regretting their decision now.

Serves them right. Franchitti even had a teammate that was staying and fighting for the series, so he has no excuse at all. No doubt they are ****ed when they could be serious contenders this year if they would have stayed. Now they get to be bored and to quote RATT go 'round and round'. Damn I've been trying to work in a RATT quote since the 80's. I'm so proud of myself.
