Matador should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Honestly, I think that with further refinements the concept may actually be viable. We will see.

I agree the had better(lower) front axle engagement speed possibly had some to do with it as well.

The ap' for this, its called BoP. Each team is trying to cut a bigger part of the pie behind a heavy curtain. Hence sandbagging sometimes. They said they dont intend to design a new car, not worth the money, more likely will improve the existing one. Remember the entire world laughing at the Yellow Tea-Pots?

I don't think I was aware of Peugeot having a different ERS deployment speed than Toyota and Ferrari. Has it been like this all season? and why?

Mainly, it has to do with two things; tire size and weight distribution. The Pug was built with the original rules, which allowed for 50/50 weight distribution so they went with a equal size tire setup all around 31/71x18. When the rules changed by '22, the Toyota went with the 29/71 F and 34/71 R, which is where Ferrari also went for. Unfortunately, for Peugeot, the cost to make changes to go with the change was too much and too late, so they stuck with what they had. It also ties in with the deployment of the front Hybrid system which is 150 km/h for Peugeot, and 190km/h for Toyota and Ferrari.

The 150km/h must have helped.

As a reminder here it is: https://tentenths.com/forum/showpost...&postcount=281

Peugeot has always been 150km/h and Toyota and Ferrari 190km/h. In 2021 Toyota was 120km/h (dry) and higher in the wet IIRC.

I do not know the reason why? It was always obvious the Peugeot was a shitbox?

This ties with the differences Toyota/Ferrari and Peugeot, and Toyota's change to have the 190km/h. Thanks.

I'd forgotten they'd changed for 2022, I thought it was for 2023.

Weight distribution they say… well… I mean…ya no… and stuff… By the way, how do they mesure this weight distribution? Because, I've been told, recently, that those cars have some aero. If the WD is kif-kif la bourrique when the car is stationary what happens at, say, 149 kph? When you see the influence of a one inch gurney! Just sayin… asking for a friend…

Weight distribution? Dont forget to take into account a couple of kilos on the front for a large squirrel the #8 swallowed.
Pascal Vasselon explained Hirakawa’s pace was severely compromised when he ran over a “not a very small” squirrel.
Quote:
“Just after one of these moments where we were competitive, Ryo has hit a squirrel. It was probably not a very small one because it has done big damage to the front end."
“He was in trouble until the end of the stint when we could change the complete front end.”
That explains the squirrely handling.
Edit: Just realised this is the Peugeot thread... I thought it was Toyota talk....

Ha you're talking about Huno-the-Squirrel here. There could be an investigation coming from our "Greens". For their defense teams could say not only it was a big one but he looked angry, fearce and rabid too! Anyone knows about his registration number or if he was wearing a Ferrari T-shirt? Isn't this "total" story a little bit hard to swallow, unless you drive a japanese car?

Looks like they're still planning to continue the no rear wing concept. Will be interesting to see what direction they go in. I kind of like the look of no rear wing. Gives it a cleaner/sleaker look.

What is said is that they can't raise more money for a new car or major developments. Should you make a mix of Toyota and Pug, I think that the result could be very close to a Ferrari. The best friends the French team has are the resurfaced circuits and the track limits enforcement. When one lost its front end at LM in the long straight it was obvious that the suspension travel is really high. At the end of the day the good results they obtain in the wind tunnel must be race proven.

Obviously Peugeot feel there is still something to gain from no rear wing. They wouldn't do it just for the sake of being innovative. Let's hope they find the right combo for it

Hypercars only Q "side" results:
Sector 1 best B Hartley 30"410, JE Vergne 30"514 (3rd);
Sector 2 best K Kobayashi 32"535 , JE Vergne 32"756 (5th) ;
Sector 3 best A Fuoco 32 32"139, JE Vergne 32"302 (5th).
Best top speed B Hartley 315,8 kph, JE Vergne 310,3 kph (6th). Jean Éric Vergne at Monza is the best driver Peugeot have, faster and more consistent, may be his experience in FE pays there. From the poor images I saw it seemed that the gurneys are higher than were in LM. Anyone to correct this?

Don't they know they don't have a rear wing?

The continued gearbox selection issues seems puzzling that they can't fully resolve

Official reason. Back in the day, in F1, each time they throw a conrod out of the block without spannering PR people used to say it was a leaking hose coming out from the gearbox. Watta hose! It will work one day. When is another question…
