They call it a bumper field yet they have 13 cars between NGTC and TCR.
TCR Australia has 17 cars and that's only TCR. |

When every other round has had 7 cars on the grid (8 at Croft), then 13 is a bumper grid

So the question is : Will we have a 2020 TCR UK season? Or is it a dead duck?

From what I've heard, highly unlikely it will see a third season. Whatever happens, Lines will not be the promoter again.
My guess is that TCT will continue under it's original guise, i.e. allowing TCR spec cars without using the TCR(tm) name |

"Our plans for the VW Racing Cup and Sister series, TCT/TCR-UK will be revealed in the next two weeks and it will be fantastic news for anyone thinking of racing with us in 2020.”
Looks like the series is on for next year. |

Being away from any BTCC weekends and also supported by VW Cup will hopefully help increased the numbers. I think Hard may end up entering and it will allow some of the VW cup teams to try it out without having the expense of covering additional meetings.

Not sure how attractive it could be to drive for a team that can’t even spell the brand name of the cars they would be using!

I've got 11 NGTC cars in my shed. Consider that an entry for TCT.

I think the biggest problem is cost. Actually perceived cost. Potential racers think it's expensive to hire/rent a touring car for the weekend/season. Whether it is or not is unclear, but if the thought is already there, it may be stopping them from enquiring?
If a old NGTC Toyota comes onto market for £65k, that automatically makes me think a weekend in one is £6k+ fuel, tyres, damage etc. TCR cars similar? Newer NGTC cars much more. If that's too high, then publishing actual prices will go a long way to enticing well funded club racers to step up. £8-12k a year to race in MX5s in a car you own or rent a touring car a few weekends? |

TCR cars are not expensive to maintain, if they're maintained correctly.
They can be run quite cheaply, if you're not throwing engines, dampers, gearboxes, and brakes at them every meeting, in hope that you'll stay at the front of the field. |

Mr Lines has quite often stated how much it costs to run a TCR car. Anyone with a remotely serious intention would probably be able to guess the rough figures anyway
