Tristan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
In terms of raw driving talent, has the future EVER looked brighter??

JPM.

Sato.

Kimi.

Heidfeld.

Alonso.

Massa (my current tip).

And of course the Schumacher bros.

So many potential WDC-ers. In terms of new (OK, may be not TGF, but he'll still be around), fresh, exciting, happening driving talent, HAS THE FUTURE EVER LOOKED BETTER?? 2002 (and more so 2003) has just GOTTA be cracking!!

If it lives up to its expectations it should be great!! Just a shame the tracks aren't around for them to maximise their talent.

Massa and JPM are my faves.

only problem is that the cars are simply not upto it. with a large number of good cars, people like villeneuve and fisi will shine too. so what we need are the teams to get their cars in shape. this is probably the best driver lineup in years.

Can the drivers do it all alone?

No question that the driving talent for a great season is in place or waiting in the wings. However, the cars can't pass each other - except in a few spots - because of the steps taken to reduce their performance and to make the tracks "safer". In short the drivers will not really have a chance to show off their abilities. This contradiction will have to be resolved before we have another "great" season.

Well looking at TGFs performance at Suzuka that looks rather likely to happen.

tough to predict whose car will be good next season based on this season's performances. hardly anyone expected mclaren to be this unreliable this year, they were way better than this last year.

And, may I add,
did anybody at the end of '97 expect them to be as superior in '98 as they were?

No. But '98 season had an element that next year doesn't: they made major changes to the car. Some (read only McLaren) got it right, some (I mean the others) got it wrong and it took almost a quarter of the season to make adjustments. But we digress.

Particularly with drivers like exciting drivers like JPM and Alonso, the future is indeed very bright for F1.

The talent is there, now we needs more competitive cars.

the more you're aware of the junior series, the more you know how much talent there is around. it's like anything, there's always a whole bunch of really gifted kids, you just have to find them.

it is the age of the young. make hay while the sun shines, kiddies...

I agree with Tristan as well. There are a lot of talent right now in F1, the problem as some has said, there is no material. The cars are way to different from each team, and the top teams will always have the edge. I mean there were a lot of big talents in the past, but they did not had the ride to prove it. I think the one who will shine the most will be Kimi, that's if the Macs can stay reliable.

In terms of raw driving talent, has the future EVER looked brighter??

JPM and Ralf are both proven race winners and next year will have the car(and hopefully the reliability) to furthur exploit their talents.

Alonso?, no doubt the boy can drive, but we will have to wait an additional year to see what he can do in a competitive car .

Raikonen could proove to be very interesting next year at Mclaren. All I can say is that I would not like to be in DC's shoe's next year if he is regularly out-paced by his far younger and far less experienced team-mate.

And let's not foget Jenson. He was hampered by a **** car this year, but he does have a lot of skill, and he prooved it last year at williams.

Villeneuve, could all his talent have gone comletely to waste at BAR??

Fisichella, How well Jordan will be next year waits to be seen, but it always seems like he's in the wrong place at the wrong time.

TGF, there's no need for me to expand on this subject, we all know he's the best.

Talent is like riding a bicycle, once you've got it, you never lose it. Unfortunately driving a **** car is like having a bicycle with no wheels!.
