Monza shouldn't be missing. It could attract Maserati, Lamborghini or Ferrari into LMP.
The Nürburgring GP course is terrible, even more so for F1 cars and LMPs. Straights are too short, corners are too slow and twisty. Hockenheim was great but now is the best German track for LMPs. Silverstone can't be held in September, or Americans wouldn't have time to travel across the ocean. |

What I find somewhat baffling is that Patrick Peter is waiting for the F-1 schedule to release the LMS schedule!

A lot of series organizers are doing that.

Why? What relevance does the F-1 schedule have to the LMS, none. No shared events, tv is a joke and a venue would not book both at the same time. He needs to grow a pair and worry about how his schedule melds with the ALMS and should try to coordinate with the ALMS to make sure that both sides are working to create a smooth Sportscar season on both sides of the pond. Especially now that the ILMC intertwines between them.

Autosport (print) suggesting that Algarve will be moved out of high season (imagine that) and the LMS will be six rounds.
I truly hope that the sixth round will be pre Le Mans, as the combined schedule after (with the, IMO, ridiculously honking huge gap for Le Mans testing) is jam packed already. L.P. |

And what of the rumored ALMS race to take place in May of next year. I know it's only a proposal at this stage, but will it be a championship race or will it be a non-points race like the LM24 is to the ALMS? And the rumor also of a big prize money purse for the competitors--shades of the NASCAR Bud Shootout and the Winston/Nextel/Sprint Allstar race? I find that a little odd considering that IMSA has never put up decent prize money for privateer teams (and basically exclude factory teams from race purse and also get very little point fund and contingency money, not that the privateers get a King's ransome from that, either).
Who'll put up the money for such a race? I doubt that Don Panoz would (and he can probably afford it), since he hasn't really directly funded the ALMS since 2006--and this guy's the owner of IMSA and the ALMS! Audi coming back might nudge IMSA into doing this race, but that still means that someone's gotta put up the purse, and would Audi be disqualified from that if they come back as a full factory team? Also, where would a good venue be for this race if it comes off? |

There is no rumoured race pre Le Mans! S. Atherton mentioned it might be looked into, nothing to indicate that it would ever happen, but was being contemplated. At this point, a non-starter.

I'd love the extra race to be São Paulo, and I mean the street race on Workers Day. Together with Sebring and Long Beach, it could form a Le Mans Americas Cup.

So there's a rumour that the Le Mans test day will be week after Long Beach race. What kind of sense does that make, is ACO looking at all what's happening in their other series?!

As far as i can tell, and this year at Le Mans many teams talked about that, almost everyone wants the return of the Le Mans Test Days, mainly the LMP manufactures because with a new set of rules, nas new cars, Le Mans will be a shot in the dark without any previous test. |

Having a test day is fine, but please schedule it to take place two weeks before the race, not two months. Audi, Peugeot and AMR surely want to test early on (since they're only interested of LM and ILMC), but this is horrible for ALMS scheduling and their teams. If the test is to take place week - I mean a bloody WEEK - after Long Beach grand rix, there will either be no american teams at the Sarthe, or they decide to skip Long Beach.

Wrong! The point of having a test day is to set the car up for the tracK!!!!!!!!! There are other venues/races which can be utilized to shake down the cars. L.P. |

Horndawg, Le Mans is so different that it may be a good idea to test the car there. I'm not talking about reliability, but about the unique characteristics of the track - bumps, straights, esses.
