Muzza should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Hole in BAR nosecone

Folks,

I was at the US GP "pit crock" (as Tim Northcutt correctly renamed the secretive pit walkabout) and I noticed that that black dot on the tip of the BAR nosecone is actually an opening - but for what?

It cannot be for cooling electronics, as there is nothing located nearby there... Any idea?

Re: Hole in BAR nosecone

These type of questions have been asked many times....from the racing technology board....NACA ducts for damper & driver cooling especially for the feet.

Nearly all the cars have a small opening on the nosecone.

It's not called Donkey Dick, Donkey Dick is the convaluted hose that is used to direct the air to the desired area. For example a clutch cooling duct will have a length of donkey dick on the back to take the cooler air to the clutch. It is so called because of its apparent resemblence to the reproductive organ of a donkey!

Mark, you must use the "Attachment" button, since it's a picture that you have in your hard drive and not from a site in the web.

Does anyone remember when these were introduced. I seem to remember it being McLaren at Malaysia a couple of years ago. Am I right?

I think it was about 1999 onwards that we saw them introduced.

well that is probably refering to the actual file size in bytes. Try saving as a jpg and if that doesn't work turn up the compression on the file (I don't know photolab, but it could be an option when saving).
