We've not had any info through with regards to this meeting, in the original silverstone volunteering form it was down as a provisional meeting.

Do the BRDC organise race meetings these days? I didn't think so, although I could be wrong.

Chezza - looking at the BRDC availability forms, I can't see where the BGP fits in as a I thoguht S'stone generally didn't hold any meetings during the month before. Am I missing something?

Interestingly, the day before is down as being a BARC meeting at Silverstone... unless that's changed

The BRDC do still organise and run race meetings, albeit much fewer than a number of years ago. As Chezza says this date was on the BRDC volunteering form as TBA but it doesn't, I think appear as TBA on any other volunteering form.

I think the days of no meetings before the GP was in the days when the BRDC were running the circuit and promoting the GP. I can't see any reason now why the circuit wouldn't be hired out in advance of the GP. THe GP is confirmed (as much as anything is...for the 11th June 2006.

GP is down for 11 june...there is a short gap but only a couple of weeks, i assume this is because some of the preparation work will have been done for the last meeting before the GP which is the World Superbikes. Last year there was only 3 week gap. They don't hire the circuit out sue to making it look perfect for the big weekend. They don't want anyone scuffing the fresh advertising paint etc.

That is true stiggy, therefore this may only be a one day meeting...or it may well have changed. As it is I am on the stowe circuit on the Saturday anyway.

I would guess BARC organisation, as most of the senior officials at the (Dubai?) race last year were the BTCC crew from what I saw on the TV

The race at Kyalami wasn't staffed by BARC marshals.

Mr. Green is quite correct when he says BARC officials went to dubai - but that wasn't GPM.

The fact that I can now make a weekend of it - and it's silverstone which is quite convinient, makes this a rather attractive proposition for a spot of marshalling.

See you there then I guess Kev!

I despise F1 nowadays but there is a bit of glam getting the older boys back even if they are in new toys.

Load of old fat blokes meeting.............. and the GP masters!

BARC will certainly man Race control, but the marshals on the ground at Kyalami were the Kyalami Marshals Association - I know, as I am one and was there!!!!

So that doesn't really give a clue as to which club is marshalling the event!!!!!!

I would suggest you contact Pam Dearn of the BRDC Marshals Club as she is the one most likely to know. Her address is on the BRDC website.
