I have driven over a half a million miles in Europe , and been in France many hundreds of times .Never usually any problems ,even when stopped by the French Douane many times . They like to hang about at motorway toll booths for easy targets .
One thing to remember is that the Autoroute tolls, time you from 1 point to another , so on long sections , stop for fuel to make sure you have not been to quick .
