Nikki Katz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
That ferucci move looked intentional, but to be fair the incidents in the previous couple of laps didn’t look much better.

It was so disappointing it ended like that. When Ericsson made the double pass on the back stretch it looked like he had made an awesome move for the win. But then he got drilled Nascar style by O’Ward and that started to ruin things. And then the Ferrucci/Askew clash............. just wow. Ferruccis attempts to exonerate himself have been dreadful.

I know it’s “not real”, but Norris made a very good point on his stream after the Pagenaud clash. It might be just a bit of fun, but some people are putting a lot of time and effort into making a good run for their sponsors. The drivers are practicing, the analysts studying they data when they could be having family time. To then have that time and effort nullified because people want to play bumper cars must be pretty galling

And morals (of racing and generally) should be a standard in real life and on-line. On line is still interactions between real people.

Yes there is a difference in safety, but there is fair play to consider too. Which in sport has much more of an option to exist than in normal life.

Like a forum, it may be online, but being an idiot is being an idiot whether you are down the pub or on a forum, Facebook or twitter.

Thrills and spills aside, I have to agree you. It wasn't "serious", if that's the right word to use, because of the nature of these events but one hopes it would have been conducted with in the spirit of the competition and it was throughout the IndyCar iRacing Challenge, except for the last few laps, of the last race. That was disappointing.

It was directly intentional, apparently drivers had complained about Askew's moves a couple times in this and previous events. It seems like Askew had made contact when being lapped in the closing laps previously and drivers were very vocal about it Guess Ferucci figured he would do something since you cant get hurt in a sim. And no sponsor seems to give a lick about that, hell I'm guessing they like it and getting all the YouTube replays.

Coming from a huge pagenaud fan, I'm a little disappointed in his actions. Seemed he had switched to mashing buttons on a video game mode at the end there. In the end, no big deal because it was just a game, but was a bad look. I give ferrucci a little more slack because it at least seemed plausible that he just jerked the wheel a little more than intended there, but probably was intentional too.

Maybe if they were giving out a "championship" for it, like keeping points as a series, as opposed to having to be done by people on here, it would have been a little more serious. Also, wish they had left the final round as open ended, to be determined by when the real thing starts back up. That way there wouldn't be a last lap of last race to get sloppy and silly in.

Really wish they'd continue it with weekly rounds exclusively on tracks indycar has never been to from here on out, voted by fans/drivers/whoever each week. I was disappointed indy was the last round, was hoping for bathurst. Would love to see bathurst, road atlanta, then maybe some much smaller, country tracks that would never be large enough or have the infrastructure to host indycars. These have been fun to watch, let's keep it going!

I get so frustrated how perilous it seems pagenauds penske ride is. After his first year, he was already on the hot seat. Wins a championship. The next year, he finishes second. Bought him one year. The next year he finished like 7th or something and was back on the hot seat last year. Wins the 500, and, I know it's just a flippant comment by you, but the idea of pagenaud losing his Penske ride anytime in the next 3 or so years minimum, should be unthinkable. I would think power would deserve to go before him, but both are deserving of staying till they're at least as old as helio was.

After reviewing the footage and the driver interviews, the marshals have now published new data, revising the points results after the iRacing Indycar race.

"Someone who not only intentionally crash into another driver, but then also is not man enough to stand by his action shows extremely bad sportsmanship, and will be stripped of all points. Crashing into another competitor and then admitting that was what happen shows extremely bad sportsmanship, but a consistency of character the marshals decided to take into consideration. The conclusion was that competitor Santino Ferrucci is stripped of his points in the Indy race, and that competitor Simon Pagenaud is stripped of all points in this championship.

The marshal's decision is final."

Pffttt.... with such a draconian and heavy handed decision making body, I can't bring myself to ever spend money to attend any of these events in the future...

Yes, indeed, the end with all that unnecessary wrecking was downright weird.

And I agree that it would have been nice to see this sim racing series of pros continue until the beginning of the real season, to be run on both tracks that are on the Indycar calendar and those that are not.

I would have loved to see them try out an 80s version of Riverside, Road Atlanta, Trenton, the Mickyard, Virginia International Raceway, Lime Rock Park, MoSport, the Donnybrooke circuit at Brainerd, Minnessota, Nazareth and Pocono. I don't think Baltimore or Nola Mozorsports Park exist on a sim, but that would have been cool, too.
