Turns out it will be a 2L unit. Just noticed the following from the tender process:
'The engine must be designed to comply with 2020 technical regulations, which specify a turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder in-line unit that fits all current cars, while simultaneously considering the forthcoming integration of hybrid systems in the BTCC.' |

Either way, is it really that important? It's just an observation.... |

It’s interesting that Brands GP will be before the Indy circuit for the first time in 10 years. It will make for an intriguing final on the Indy circuit

Most teams will lease the engines from Swindon so it won't be a big headache to change to a 2.0ltr M-Sport engine over the winter. Wont be derived from the 1.6 WRC engine as that was developed along the global engine rules which WRC/WTCC used. RML wouldn't sell you a 1.6t (Used in the chevy)but they would lease you one

Swindon will sell anyone a''turnkey'' NGTC unit for £25k, thats always been the RRP. People are forgetting that the TOCA engine isn't the only option, you can go buy one from NBE, Mountune, Ric Wood, Scholar, Swimdon, anybody. M-Sport are just the 'defacto' supplier not sole supplier of engines.

I’d be very surprised if it’s not based on Ford’s 2.0 Ecoboost, it seems logical on more than one level.
If that is the case I do wonder if Motorbase will continue with Mountune or whether they’ll swap to the TOCA unit. Interesting.... In terms of forecourt relevance, not all engines are getting smaller. The new Focus ST actually uses a 2.3 in place of the old models 2.0. I believe it was easier to hit the required emissions figures this way and the 2.3 obviously already existed, but it’s just an example. |

Maybe because the third is an older RS and quite a separate entry for Neate. I don't remember his livery from pre-season testing but wasn't it a bit different than "main two" cars?

Has the rumoured sponsor reconsidered potentially?

Not quite nothing, but also nothing to worry about: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SanGcqek6gA Interview with Dave Bartrum, he says they still have to finish the third car, but nearly there. They would've started the season with one old Focus without the delay. Also some more shots of the cars and the Racing Red stickers are indeed gone. Dave did have Covid 19 himself, but now seems eager to go racing. Definitely worth a watch. |
