Racing series which took part at the Birmingham Superprix

I feel this thread would get more noticed rather than my regular Birmingham Superprix thread. Also it would help with some members' contributing their own memories about the racing series.

I am looking for contact details of the organisers of the racing series that took part at the Birmingham Superprix from 1986-1990 so I can obtain some information about their races at the street circuit such as qualifying and full race results.

1986-1990 F3000 championship - now defunct and transformed into the current GP2 series. A long shot but does anyone know any drivers to contact?

1986 and 1987 Formula 1600 championship - Where can I contact them? Any 1986/1987 drivers to contact?

1986 Renault 5 Pro/Am race - Who was responsible for organising this race? Would it help if I contacted Renault UK?

1986 Thundersports championship - Forgive me for this but is the series still going on this this day? Who organised the cancelled 1986 race?

1986 Formula Libre championship - I know the BRSCC organised this but does anyone know any 1986 drivers?

1987 Ford Fiesta championship - Is the series still going today? Where can I contact the series?

1987 Modified Saloon Car championship - Who was responsible for organising the championship? Any 1987 drivers to contact?

1988 and 1990 Porsche Club Great Britain - I have just emailed the PCGB and I haven't heard from them yet. Does anyone know any 1988 and 1990 drivers?

1988 and 1989 MG Metro 6R4 Super Challenge - Who accepted the invitation to take part in the 1988 and 1989 Birmingham Superprix/Who organised the 6R4 Super Challenge?

1988-1990 British Touring Car championship - Does anyone know any 1988,1989 and 1990 drivers or possibly the organisation people from that era?

1989-1990 Honda CRX Challenge - I am sure the series is no more but who organised it and what happened to it at the time?

If you happen to have any contact then please PM me or perhaps point me to a particular organisation or a website.

If anyone got any interesting memories of any series I mentioned particularly at the Birmingham Superprix, please do share it with us.

Thank you.

Not sure what you mean by 'organized' here.As far as I recall all the Superpixs were organized by the BRSCC and most of the support races seem to be their series. The Thundersports was an MCD(Foulston era) promotion.

Your best bet is to contact the BRSCC. I suspect that some of the Midland Centre personnel where involved in running the meeting and may be able to help you track down some of the information that you require.

I forgotten this:

1988 Vauxhall Lotus Challenge - Who organised the series and what happened to it now?

I have just contacted the Midlands branch of the BRSCC and hopefully I will hear something from them very soon.

I was ther with my two F5000's for the Libre race but the races were cancelled. Have a complete programme, entry lists, qualifying times, etc. if you're interested. Also as I raced at most of the Libre races that year will have result sheets for those as well.

Another source may be Martin Hawden (sp?) and the Motor Racing Archive - Strong BRSCC Links

Didn't expect this thread to be bumped up after all those years!

I have contaced Martin Hawden (has he passed away recently?) and BRDC and they got nothing on the 1988 event.

It is a shame as I have contacted one of the BSP organisers about the BTCC qualifying session and he said that he got no timesheets at all as the BTCC and Formula Vauxhall support races were cancelled although the qualifying sessions took place in the day before.

My search continues!

Just a little patience; mostly thanks to the 1988 BTCC thread here the BTCC grid, the DNQ's and some practice times will be on my site in a few weeks.
Even the FIA doesn't hold records of championships of the past, that's left to volunteers like us.

Martin passed away last year I believe and I think his records were passed onto MSV. Hopefully Andy Kitson will see this and confirm etc.
