The 2011 Predictions Time Capsule
Welcome to the third annual Ten-Tenths Predictions Time Capsule.
To take part, simply submit five predictions about the coming season. I'll close and bury the thread at 5pm on Thursday 10th March, the eve of the Bahrain Grand Prix weekend. Then at the end of the season, I'll dig it up and we can see how wrong we were. The only rule is that the predictions must be easily verifiable (ie - 'Schumacher will beat Rosberg' is fine, whereas 'Schumacher will suprise a few people' isn't). Right, here's mine: 1) Sebastian Vettel will have the title tied-up with three races remaining 2) At least four drivers will feature for HRT 3) Renault will score at least one win. 4) Williams will score at least one win. 5) Two drivers will win their maiden Grands Prix. |

1. Lewis Hamilton will outscore Jenson Button.
2. Lotus will score their first points between between Rounds 1 and 7. 3. Daniel Ricciardo will make his Formula 1 race debut. 4. The 107% qualifying rule will not be, or need to be, enforced at all. 5. HRT will fail to score a point, nor will they ever qualify above 20th on the grid on merit (grid penalties to other drivers do not count). |

Hard to tell performance at this stage but I guess that's what this is all about - time to make ourselves look stupid at the end of the year:
1) Team Lotus will still be called that at the last race 2) Not all the teams will score points (unless there's an Indy 05-type withdrawal, which won't count) 3) The championship won't be as close as last year - specifically the number of points covering the top 3 or 4, or the number of contenders at the end 4) Kubica won't be back this year 5) And my big gamble...Jenson Button won't win any races |

1. The overall winner had been decided earlier, but not every place in the championship. 5. Depends on if you meant flat as in deflated, or flat as in flat-spotted? |

1) At least one driver will retire from a race with >75% complete from 1st place.
2) We will see a pole position from outside Ferrari, Mclaren & Red Bull 3) Before 50% the season is complete, we will have a double retirement for one of the top 5 teams based on last years WCC. 4) Schumacher will on average score higher than Rosberg over the whole season 5) We wont see any races with less than 10 finishers. |

2. So very wrong. We very nearly didn't see a pole position from outside RBR! 3. This one was in the bag before the first race was complete. Thanks Mercedes! 4. Shumacher let me down! Not in part because of his share of retirements 5 vs. Rosberg's 2. Only 13 points behind. 5. Correct - but a bit too easy. 15 was least finishers if you count DSQs. So, 2 out of 5 but number 5 was far too easy. So I'm giving myself a 1 point penalty. Rubbish! |
