Apparently Pagenaud, PT and Tag were on red wall tires for Q1.
Does "Promenada" on Dominguez's rear wing have anything to do with Telmex or is that another sponsor he's brought to Forsythe? Those are terrific pictures. Bourdais referring to Saturday: "I would expect us to go another two seconds quicker tomorrow morning and maybe another second faster still in qualifying tomorrow." http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto.../36515/?page=2 That's insain! They don't normally have those kinds of differences between early practice and final qualifying. It sounds like a really interesting circuit. Fast and longer than a lot of street circuits. It sounds like it has bumps, but only really bad in a couple of places and it seems to merely add to the technical nature of the course. (granted I haven't watched it on TV yet!) It sounds like Jani is quiet quick but he and/or the car cannot handle the big bumps. Last edited by Snrub; 7 Apr 2007 at 16:54. |

What's wrong with Dominguez this time? Strong showing by Junquiera, although a second off in 4th. |

Bourdais hasn't turn a lap in Q2, he's damaged the car. It's looking like 12th or worse for him. Edit: Nope, 16th!
I'm not exactly sure why PT hasn't put in much of a time in Q2? HOLY ####. Power's lap just obliterated everyone!!! Last edited by Snrub; 7 Apr 2007 at 22:00. |

^ Take Power out of the equation and it's pretty close between the drivers.
PT has to be worried for the race. He will line up #2 beside Power, but Power has put in a lap TWO SECONDS faster than PT's very best. Power has to be pretty happy. As long has he doesn't crash or have someone like PT crash into him, he's looking very strong for the race. Bourdais is always a threat, but with Power's dominant speed and Bourdais at the back, I'd imagine it will be okay. Wouldn't it be great if TA was on a level footing with NH and Forsythe this year? Walker hasn't been all that well funded or stable since De Faren left. Prior to that Gil and Robby Gordon were serious contenders. Is it possible that they're about to reclaim their former status? It's looking like we may have the makings of the scenerio needed to make it possible to deny Bourdais his 4th championship. TA, PKV, RSports and Forsythe are looking strong. It's impressive to see Jani, Tag, Pagenaud, Junquiera up there too. Last edited by Snrub; 7 Apr 2007 at 22:11. |

Overall qualifying (first number indicates position in Q1)

I ment Minardi instead of PKV in the above. Doornbos put in a nice lap. Clarke is 1.3 seconds off. That's a lot.
We'll see how the race goes, but I'm probably ready to eat crow on Gommendy. He's close to his teammate and put in a respectable job. |

Tracy really didn't need to push in Q2, so why would he bother risking much?
Bourdais certainly has his work cut out for him. |

Will Power's lap was amazing, one wonders how they did that. Looks Like Team Oz has done their homework, hopefully the can get some wins in early in the season before everyone else catches up.
Not sure what's up with Wilson, it seemed like last year he had the right stuff to beat bourdais but he hasnt been high in the charts during the practice and qualifying sessions. |

An interesting side note for Sebatien Bourdais.
This is only the 2nd time in his 60 race career he has qualified out of the top 10. His last out of the top 10 qualifying was way back in 2003 at the Milwaukee Mile when he qualified 13th. His average Career Qualifying performance sits at a very cool 2.86 |

2.86 is an incredible qualifying record. I'd imagine the median is 2nd and the mode (most frequent) is pole.
Wilson is .4 off his teammate so that's a pretty respectable. I think a new and very difficult track combined with a brand new car has resulted in some more variable results than we were accustomed to. It's also the first race of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Wilson on the podium. Fogelhund NBC is showing the race. |

Interesting to see the times dropping so dramatically. Wonder if it's the track rubbering in nicely under the Vegas sun. Power's time is impressive but one lap doesn't win a race. Let's see if he can maintain the pace. Nice to see NHL while still very strong aren't dominating. It will be good fun to watch Bourdais run to the front. Looks like Gommandy is proving a lot of doubters wrong. Welcome to 2007, enjoy the racing |

Yes Gommeddy is doing well, it seems many failed to look at him objectively.
