mystery GT

Can anybody tell me more about this car?:
http://www.geocities.com/guacomole1/gt.html
All I know is that it was designed by a man named Jo Karasek (who also penned an Indy Car for the Mc Namara team around 1970).

Man, check out those nose fins!!! The car bears a striking resembelence to the original Lola GT from around '62-'63. That was the car that eventually became the GT40.

I remember the McNamara. I thought at the time it was a good looking car. Whatever happened to that constructer? One year in USAC and POOF!!! They were gone.

This car happened slightly later; I believe it was a contemporary of the actual GT40. And I am almost sure it doesn't exist anymore.

I believe McNamara ran off with the money.

Looks to mew like its a modified GT40, a bit like the '67 Mirage M1 was (except not as tastefully done as the Mirage)

Here's a picture of the Mirage.

It is definitely a GT40 clone but I don't think it is actually a modified GT40.

Instead of a Ford GT40 replica or look-a-like racer, maybe its a rebodied Lola T70 from the late 60s?

To me it looks like a rebodied GT40 (and I have looked at quite a few GT40's), The fuel fillers are in the right place and the seats are the same (look at the drivers seat and you can see what looks like dots, they are holes to let cool air onto the drivers back)the windscreen also looks like GT40 but the wheels look very Italian. My guess is that it is a Gt40 Rebodied in Germany.

Not McNamara, the man who later worked for McNamara.

I just got around to looking at the photo. Boy, this is a stumper! My reference books say that the Austrian Karasek was an ex-Lola design engineer so maybe there could be a Lola GT connection. Studying the photo leads me to make some wild guesses: the injector (Weber?) stacks sticking through the body almost ensure it's not an endurance racer. The rear spoiler looks adjustable, and maybe even moveable. The front fins or dive planes must be there to balance the downforce from the back. The size of the rear air inlets reminds me of CanAm. This was the one arena where moveable aero aides were fairly common in the sixties and where the engines were big enough to need that much air. However, a cursory glance at some of the old CanAm grids doesn't show anything like this car. The bodywork and paint appear professional so it probably negates the backyard boys. Who knows? European hillclimb special?

What would these books be?

The CanAm would have been a little far-fetched - the money man behind the project seems to have been an Austrian driver named Otto Stuppacher; so the idea was to race it in Europe. I don't think the car ever worked right, nor was it given development time/funds. To tell you the truth, I have no idea if/where it ever ran.

cybersdorf-- no relation, just a nom de plume. He was my hero-- a self-trained designer/builder of racing cars of unusual simplicity, logic, grace and speed.
