Great stuff. Things went wrong in NASCAR, but it's done nothing to ruin his reputation or status in Indycar. Hopefully Wheldon will also get a decent ride.

I don't believe Dario is a NASCAR failure though. To the man in the street he's a Marcos Ambrose who popped up in a few races and went away again. He didn't have enough of a NASCAR career to be considered a failure (cough cough Reed Sorenson cough)

It will say that OW and stock racing are basically two different jobs. Winning in one of them doesn't necessarily imply winning in the other.

And in the the case of Dario, I'd say that one year imight be not long enough to adapt.
Can some expert please tell me if Tony Stewart succeded in Nascar from the gitgo?

Started his first Daytona 500 from pole, IIRC. But he had a season in Busch to get acquainted.

No offense, but Dario was on the backside of a great career before he went to NASCAR. Now he is coming back to take a seat away from someone who is on the upside of their career. In my own opinion the better thing for Dario to have done was either to have retired or to have moved to sports cars.

He has nothing left to prove and I really do not believe he has anything left to prove it with at this point in his career.

The whole point to being a racing driver is to prove that you are faster than the other guy(s).

Otherwise, why bother?

Because it's his living John. Maybe his family does have more money than any of us mere mortals could ever want but that's just what he does. Hey maybe he even just enjoys it still.

We'll see how good Dario is in IRL soon enough. Don't judge by his NASCAR performances though - ol' sliced bread over there isn't exactly setting the world alight yet either and I hear he's quite good.....

I would respectfully disagree here, Mystery. Racing, at least to me, has always been about more than "making a living." In one sense I appreciate what you are saying, but understand that my point revolves around the passion/desire/focus required to go out and prove that you are better than the next guy - not that this is what you fill out under the "Occupation" section of your tax form...
