I think the vitaphone entry will be like the Larbre 008 car was last year, basically a third works car.

It seemed to me from what I read that Vitaphone was merely looking for factory support, but Vitaphone themselves will still be running the team.

I wonder how the Aston will look. Never liked the Vitaphone livery on the Saleen or Maserati, but perhaps it'll look better on the Aston (and perhaps get a design update). |

This Vitaphone Racing article............my understanding of German is none too great, but it seems to imply that a final decision on whether or not to go to Le Mans is yet to be made. The team may yet withdraw and take the option to run a third Maserati in FIAGT instead. Have I understood that correctly? A 'works' Aston won't come cheap, and a third Maserati in FIAGT could be a nice little earner for the team.

Yes you understood correctly. They still have to make the decision if they are racing three cars in FIA GT or two cars in FIA and one in Le Mans.

Does the ACO ever release the entire entry list (all 88 entries)? I would really be interested if Carsport Holland tried to enter a Corvette or not. It seems if they did, the Spa 24 hour winner should have been accepted. Does anyone know for sure?

I don't think Phoenix-Carsport wanted to enter Le Mans.

So the Vitaphone Aston is probably only 50/50 for the race.

I understand that they are going to make a decision on a thrid car in FIA Gt. That would impact if the go to Le Mans or not.

I just presumed that since they didnt confirm their auto entry for Le Mans , and they seemingly did a deal with Aston Martin to run a 3rd works DBR9 at Le Mans , thats its as good as done .

Nope, they are still deciding whether to enter a 3rd MC12 into FIA GT. If they do, they will withdraw the Le Mans Aston entry.
Then only 7 more until the 2nd Labre Saleen |

I hope they decide to do Le Mans , that will be a quality car if they do .
I dont really want to see 4 Pescarolo's there , but then thats one step closer for that 2nd place reserve , the Lambo . |

Vitaphone has been maserati's works supported team (their main team) for what three years and then Vitaphone run an Aston Martin at Le Mans? I wonder what Maserati thinks of this- my theory is that Maserati might entice Vitaphone to run a third MC12 in FIA GT to stop Vitaphone running an Aston at La Sarthe.
I would love to see Vitaphone run a DBR9 so fingers crossed this doesn't happen. Its Maserati's fault that the MC12 doesn't meet the regs. They are a very good team so they have the capability of doing well, wether they win is another matter. |
