New Pit Lane at Donington Park

For anyone who is interested, I have been to Donington today and have uploaded the photographs here: http://www.marshalspost.com/gallery/190.html

They are not particularly clever on account of the fencing around the construction work but you should be able to get a rough idea of what it will look like.

Nice to see how the work is progressing, but it's a bit hard to figure out what exactly is going on! Looks like they are keeping the basic external structures and just tarting up the insides. Something to look forward to!

Erm no, Shelagh. It was completely flattened in November and now they are rebuilding it completely. The only thing left in the pit lane from the old one is my office!

We were there before Xmas, trackdaying, and were told that this was just for the winter, while the pit garages were worked on. Not that anyone WAS working on them - just like a Mway contraflow.

Your eyes must be deceiving you - I couldn't get the broomstick started this morning so went by car instead!

They've obviously re-used the old bricks then!!!!!

I do like the picture with the two doors, one of which is open - despite the fact that there are no walls! As long as they are remembering to wipe their feet!

Shelagh, I'm not quite sure what you are looking at but there are no bricks in the new building!

Because of the solid fencing it was very difficult to get photographs as I was not allowed in the hard hat area.

There was a block wall down what used to be the hatched line mainly to make a roadway for the track day cars - are you getting confused with that?

Perhaps I should have said "ignore the first 7 pictures - they were taken a couple of years back"!

On first examination, it does look like they've left the brick facade up, but on 2nd viewing Shelagh is actually seeing the blockwork dividing walls between the pits....

One comment though, using the blocks and door frames as dimensional referents, the pit garages look rather narrow. Especially when one considers that we have the LMES coming this year......

Neil, I know what you mean, they wont be any narrower than the garages in the Endurance pits at Spa and the teams get in and out of them OK.
