Welcome Tim,

Have you still got the "Timini"????

That ol' Scirocco has had almost as many "lives" as my Nova. Though I bet it's done more road miles!! That's "Super Road Saloons" for you!

Rob.

Unfortunately for those of us who are a little 'ring rusty' (not driven for 18mths) I found that everyone has up'd their game and getting quicker which does lead to mistakes ! there is no excuse for 'Red Mist tactics' though.

As an aside well done to Rod, Sue and Andy for keeping us all well informed - shame the club running the meeting were not so effecient ! Look out August I AM BACK !!!!!!!! - had me practice now I am up for it for the rest of the races

overtaking at Paddock !

Tim, do you know of any one who has any piccies of you at Paddock being swamped going to Paddock, I was on the inside on the greeny looking bit ! - in your defence you got to the smoke and oil that Mr. Thwaites left first I think - not very pleasant me thinks.

Cheers,

Barry - what happened at Druids at the start of race 2? From the bottom of Paddock I could see the back of your car stationary for a while, but couldn't see why.

Not quite sure, I passed may be 5 cars by the time we reached Druids and we were 3 abreast going round - me in the middle - a gap opened up ,brain said go for it but we found an Escort parked facing me, locked up ans slid in -OOOOps ! only light damage but was then 1/4 of lap behind everyone again and 3/4s behind the leaders so in making up 11 places was in my book a good result even if I was 100% on the ball !

Cheers, Barry

Thanks for the welcome Al and Rob. That was sure one hell of a race/high speed traffic jam, and I made it at least 23 DIFFERENT cars (a record?)
Shame about the oil in race 2 - yes Barry, it did spoil the race for moi. Also a shame about the heat (engine was running at 110 C) - it's cooked either the head gasket or the turbo, judging by the amount of smoke outta de exhaust. It got us back to zummerset though, thru the jams too.
Rob, the old Timini (brown 1275 GT) went mid 80's (needed a twin pram carrying vehicle). The moniker is now used on a Mighty Mini I got thinking the Scirocco and my 1966 Cooper could no longer hack it. Big mistake, as it took over a year to sort it's problems out, and they brought out the harness bar rule stuffing me taking the family in it. Can't sell it until it gets a good result, so at the moment it's a case of too many cars, always wanting attention!!! Tim

Yeh couldn't believe it Two of the nicest and fastest cars in the field, was quite a nasty one too. John got quite airborne as he hit the tyres. Managed to get a few dodgy photos of it. Have a look here - http://www.ae-photography.co.uk/230706.html (gallery from the day).

This is good to hear! With hindsight I think it was just one of those racing incidents, avoidable but neither driver wanted to give an inch, very close racing, just a bit too close on that occasion Look forward to seeing them again!

Blimey Johns car looks in a very sorry state. Nice pictures, still a hell of a lot of big 'Standard dimension' spoliers and air dams there as well I see

A fellow work mate decided they didn'y want to swap their shift with me so I had to work both afternoons in the tower watching planes and no cars-seems like I missed a good outing (for most!)...Didn't realise there was a drifting contest on at Brands though (Mr Pipe)!! ...by the way Mr. Pipe...could be next month that you star in Classic Ford mag?

Are you implying that I had a slight handling problem?
