Suggest you make sure your ferry booking can be rolled over to September and if you have a Classic entry probably next year!

Here the government says they will vaccinate people from 65 to 74 year old during March. So ........for those who are less than 65..... One day in the future
They expect to let the summer festivals stand with only 5000 sitting people. |

Well Eric, if they revise the September 2020 plan for villages then hopefully we will all be back this year, fingers still crossed.

Just got this from Travel Destinations.
Dear Porsche Curves customer * We wanted to write and reassure you that we are closely monitoring and communicating with the circuit regarding the Le Mans 24hrs and it is important to note that at this time, the event is due to proceed as scheduled on the 12th and 13th June. However, we have received a number of calls from customers asking if they can transfer their reservation to 2022. * We are sympathetic to the ongoing concerns surrounding travel this year, so if you would like to transfer your reservation to 2022, please send an email requesting the transfer to info@traveldestinations.co.uk including your booking reference number (21***) and lead name. Your prices will remain the same and we will issue new booking confirmations in due course. * For those wishing to maintain their reservation for this year, the balances will be due on the date stated on your invoice and no further correspondence is required at this time. * Best Wishes Travel Destinations |

I've done a quick search, and currently it's impossible for anyone, whatever their age, to book an appointment for vaccination in la Sarthe in March, or indeed at all. It's going to take an enormous acceleration of the programme to get everyone in France over 65 vaccinated by the end of March. I'm optimistic for events for crowds up to 5000 this summer and autumn. |

Thanks Christopher. With things moving on apace here (my wife had her first jab (at 65) this time last week), we certainly seem to have stolen a march, so to speak, on our French friends.....

You should not have lied about your age when you signed on at the doctors, if you had given your real age you would have had it months ago
You will get called soon Andrew, they are doing the 60 plus group here already. |

Not sure how that would work at Le mans, 24 hours is a long time to sit crossed legs in the stand as most do not have convenient facilities.

Well not sure how they could stop us seeing the race while walking from the campsite to the stands, however i suspect the villages idea from last year might see the light of day again.

This would mean a maximum of 5000 attendees, all seated and socially distanced (one seat vacant on either side of an occuped one). She was referring to festivals, concerts and other cultural events, but the same rules are bound to be applied to sporting events. The "village" concept put forward by the ACO last year was rejected by the authorities as non-compliant. |

I think I can understand that. It was never going to work for proper social distancing purposes....

The decision was announced on 10 August and was said to be on health and safety grounds. Pierre Fillon said "...Over the past few weeks, we've been considering a number of options to continue hosting our event with even a small number of fans on site in September. However, the conditions of organization of our event, a genuine traditional festival held over several days, has made us opt with the prefecture, for the organization of our 24 Hours, without the public this year." (my translation) |

It was a massive shame that happened. Everyone was looking forward to going. Le Mans without a crowd just didn’t seem right. Let’s hope the situation has improved enough so fans will be able to attend this year. With progress with vaccines going well and other things, it seems there is reason for hope

Progress in vaccine is not going so well here. I know my wife's father who is 90 years old absolutely can't get an appointment to be vaccinated, not before the end of march for now. Furthermore the authorities have just announced the local lockdown around Nice (south of France) and the vaccination in this area of the people above 50 years old who present co-morbidity problems.Due to the lack of vaccine doses in France we can understand they need more doses in this area so where will go the doses as a priority??
So wait ! wait ! wait ! |
