My plan of an early beer o clock on the thursday has just gone out of the window. All I.O.s now have to attend a mandatory training session starting at 12:00 regarding safe operating procedures around the use of JCBs.

Which circuits use JCBs on live tracks - I think Donington, Silverstone, Brands. Are there not enough IOs from these circuits to select from for the F1 that are already trained. Similarly for snatch crewpeople - I'm sure there are already enough trained marshals on the event list to cope without further training.

What benefit can a session on Thursday be - not enough will sink in, and without extensive 'practice' they will still struggle as it is unfamiliar.

I'll be flagging at the F1, but I'm a graded I/O, who regularly snatches at Donington.....

I wish all good luck.

I'm quite happy working around JCBs on a live race circuit, and I know that the majority of other I.O.s are as well. Reading the email it does mention possible comments that could be made by TV commentators in light of Jules Bianchis accident and the Canadian Marshals fatal accident a couple of years ago.

I also noted that the email did not mention any extra food voucher for the day even though the marshals manning the F1 system test (happening at the same time) are getting one! I'll await the reply to the email that I have sent to IMS.

You're not alone in this. I'm in Dundee training some customers until mid afternoon on Wednesday, so won't be back home until late that evening. Coupled with an early start on Thursday morning to ensure that I'm on time for the start on the training doesn't make a great start to the weekend.

I'm an unhappy bunny .....

Yes, lights 6 is indeed at Brooklands as I semi-guessed from where other light points were in previous years.

Just received in an email from IMS:-

"With the Formula 1 British Grand Prix now only a few weeks away, we are pleased to advise you that your passes and final paperwork have today been despatched via Royal Mail. "

I've just had an email from IMS with the following:-

"Thanks for your reply. We are checking with Silverstone regarding additional meal vouchers, as they provide them to us, but I would certainly hope that would be the case. I will confirm as soon as I have an answer."

Plot I14 for me at the camp. Who are my neighbours? Is this on the steepest part of the slope?

I think 14 is nearer the top part of the slope (but don't quote me on that)

You were on I21 last year, so slightly closer to the marquees this year for you

H14 for me, and as in previous years I've created a spread sheet to share this information in one place.

I was just about to ask if anyone was doing this again!

It seems to be set to "view only" for me. Can you change the settings so that we can add ourselves, please?

It is scary that you know where I was last year, DJ Last year it was almost at the end of the slope, so this time it will be on the top like Guinness said, but I think this is also the steepest part. So I will have to peg my tent well.

One thing that always baffles me about plot allocation is that when I've struggled up the hill from my lowly plot there are unoccupied plots at the top! I suspect that the answer is that some people request to have a plot next to someone else and they then share one of the plots.
