It sounds like RLL are planning on a single year of GTD PRO prior to LMDH in '23, so I wouldnt be surprised if BMW asked Turner / PMR very nicely to hold out til then to take over the mantle. Perhaps that request is incentivised with funding and or factory driver support for '23, allowing the teams to run a car in GTD PRO and GTD AM

This situation with the Weathertech team is interesting. My understanding is that "Proton" as an entity, specializes in Porsche products, that's all I've seen them work with in the past on and off the circuit. So they've now found themselves managing a double Mercedes GT3 effort for the Rolex, in conjunction with WeatherTech racing who's also simultaneously running a 911 Porsche (Proton's bread and butter). Weathertech had run a Mercedes a couple years ago and still have it, so that is where the first one came from. Then this other car appears asking for Proton to run it as well, and Weathertech is providing some sponsorship along with a Merc dealer from Montana? I'm sure it makes sense behind the scenes!

I wouldn't expect the full entry list until a week or so before the event in most cases, but then again we have the Roar coming up 10 days from now that all cars are required to compete in. So basically we are 10 days out from the start of the event, and i think we will see an entry list in the next day or two.

Dave MacNeil bought it after he made his money to found WeatherTech from owning a couple Mercedes dealerships in the past and he wanted I've again. The ownership group was divesting and splitting the company, apparently they didn't really agree and ended up getting sued by MacNeil. He really really wanted it and only MB dealer up for sale in a couple years in the US. Apparently it's 8 million bucks to buy one if you're in the market.

It's not like Proton can't figure out how a GT3 car works and likely hire a few guys who have wrenched on them. Guessing more than a few guys and gals out there who can.

Wow not too shabby! I can't wait to see how the GT3 Pro cars interact with the P3's and Am cars on the infield.

Massive list, awesome!! And to think the grid would be at 62 had the circumstances with Paul Miller played out different. And yet, all this doesn't even hold a candle to the grid numbers of the 90's and early 2000's, the pit lane must have been total chaos back then, different times for sure.
