Won't happen imo.
The thing is for Ferrari, they are the biggest team in F1 and Bernie won't want to see them go, it might effect his pocket  Expect Ferrari's budget for 2008 being posted through Bernies front door sometime in the future

Building an IndyCar (and reputedly opening talks with Bobby Rahal, then the double CART Champion) was their approach to a rules argument in the late 80s, so why not now? I doubt tehy'd ever follow it through, although they could feasibly go into the GPWC if that happened.

Why not? It was clear that Enzo was not going to race that car ever. But he built it, ran a demonstration lap, said nothing more and a couple of weeks later the first Concorde Agreement was signed.

The Manufacturers seem to be spitting their dummies out of the Pram now it look like they won't be able to have things their way, they won't leave, they just want to try and Bully the FIA into their way of thinking.

Manufacturers are actually paying the bills, not FIA. Not only that they will not "won't leave" but they're actually building up a new series. They can't leave tomorrow because they signed a contract that lasts till 2007. But 2008 is an interesting year indeed. And those 3 years ahead of us will be so much fun.

In truth, Red's right. But this isn't about Ferrari, it's about all the major teams and their backers and their share in the F1 pot. If they don't get suitable concessions from FOM and the FIA over the next three years, then the threat of pulling out and forming a rival series will always be there.
Although Max frequently scares me, I think Bernie is intelligent enough to work out a deal with the manufacturers to keep things together. Last edited by garcon; 29 Apr 2004 at 16:22. |

Don't laugh but I would love to see Ferrari start it's own series. Could you imagine a series with all drivers in equally prepared Ferraris? That together with circuits condusive to overtaking would be fantastic! All that is wrong in today's F1 could be addressed in a single swoop. Alas, I dream.

So who cares if they ack up their scarlet cars, its not like everyone is going to stop liking f1! Don't forget there are another 10 teams that race and are more the same level so it wouldn't be such a ferrari dominated sport.

Is it about the statement that, if the other big teams are leaving F1 in 2007 to start their new series, Ferrari might not neccesarily join them? |
