Fastest Oreca:- 1:36.121

Fastest Pescarolo:- 1:37.516

1.4 seconds difference, yet one is a new kid on the block, the other has been running in similar spec/aero for 3-4 years.

I'm kind of surpised that the Pugs are so fast when you consider that they're much heavier than the R10s-could it be the coupe bodywork, or is the R10 just godawful on F1 type circuits?

They are not running it for some reason, but it did not change back into a Porsche. The 997 they are fielding has always been entered for the season alongside the Aston.

Let me ask this, does one think that Audi trying to make the R10 competitive with the LMP2 cars in the ALMS compormised it's effectiveness in the LMS?

IMO beating Peugeot at Le Mans is going to be Audi's primary objective this year. I don't see that being pushed aside for ALMS.

I think he was asking if the adjustments and development already done on the R-10 to compete with the P-2's in the ALMS over the last couple of seasons has compromised the R-10 from its original Le Mans high speed design and therefore somewhat hobbled it against the 908.

I think maybe it has- but then again, they could run in a hyrbid Le Mans/ALMS spec for LMS. Or just Le Mans spec for Monza.

The R10s in the few photos I've seen are still running the ALMS high downforce bodywork. And that's what I'm getting at-has Audi's(so far successful) attempts to re-establish their ALMS dominance on the tight twist tracks hurt them on the LMS' F1 circuits, where straightline speed matters more than downforce(example, Monza and Mosport are probably about as fast, but at Mosport, cornering speed pays the dividends, and at Monza, straightline speed is the key)?

And a more serious question, the 908 supposidly uses the same tire sizes as the R10, correct? Well, back in '03, Bentley wasn't afforded the luxury of having a lot of rubber on the Speed 8-they had to use LMP2/LMP675 tires on their car. But their performance didn't suffer, and they triple and quadruple stinted their narrow tires.

Is the fact that the Peugeot is a diesel behind why they can run LMP1 spec tire on their car, since the Pug is technically a GTP car(like the Bentley), or has the equilvalent GTP class been dead since '03?

Some cockpit and rollover structure dimensions are the only difference between current rules cuopé and open cars. Engine and tyre handicapping died with the LMP900 and GTP rules at the end of 2004.

Kai has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Hmmm WR is 14 seconds off the leading LMP2's pace in both sessions. Might have to go back to the drawing board. Yes, it's a new chassis and the drivers aren't really up to par (as far as I can tell) and all that but still...

That's 2 seconds faster than last year!!!

Are they going to be able to break the 3m20s bracket at Le Mans?

Dindo improves to 1.33.4

I was almost ready to change my GT2 pole prediction from Porsche to Ferrari, but then Davison put up a nice lap.

I wonder how much sand-bagging is going on at Peugeot... Everytime the Audis come even close, they are able to widen the gap to over a second again within a few minutes.

Some rough calculation: that lap was an impressive average of 227.66 km/h!
