Indianapolis 1995
Sorry. Vid is no longer available.
From two laps down, the first Canadian to win the Borg. I tried to get as much of Villeneuve's rise through the field as I could, but the television crew was usually following the leaders and didn't pay as much attention to him as perhaps they should have. I was so concerned about fitting it into the time frame, that I editted things to the max. When all was said and done, the video was actually shorter than I wanted! (4:20) DISCLAIMER: The video quality of this tape was absolutely horrible. Seems like I spent half my time tracking the VCR! Also, I hope nobody minds but I've taken the liberty of sticking this thread at the top of the page. Not that these videos are worthy of "HotTopic", but there are so many threads linking to old vids now... I just thought it would be easier to find the current one this way, as I can only keep one link active at any time. Again, apologies for the quality. Last edited by macdaddy; 29 Feb 2004 at 18:29. |

So, yeah, it is a little difficult to follow a 500 mile race edited down to a few minutes. What's worse is oval racing isn't my thing at all Nevertheless, I think the comments at the end of the clip sum it up - he just couldn't believe that Villeneuve had made up the 2 laps on the track!
No need to apologise for the quality. I'd never be able to see any of that race anyway, so even highlights like this are great. Seeing a young Jacques like that is ... Well, I wasn't able to see any of his racing 'til he turned up in F1, so it's terrific to see him as a young guy. Thanks! |

The Indy 505. I remember that race well.
Penske not qualifying with Emmo (and wasn't it Little Al and Paul Tracy?) that year was just unbelievable. I remember Goodyear saying that everyone in the world knew that he had won and thinking that every one knew that he had jumped the pace car. Thanks MacDaddy. It was a great race to watch. |

PT was actually with Newman-Haas that year. Funny that everytime someone gets screwed out of the Indy 500 because of a ridiculous call, that driver is Canadian. I'm not trying to start something, not saying that IMS has it in for Canadians (Villeneuve won after all, albeit after a two lap penalty), it just seems odd.

That was great! JV inherited the race after two major brain fades by Vassar and Goodyear however.
Dissapointing to see the the former 500 and CART champion bolt for F1 after the season as it was when Juan Pablo left. At least its dissapointing if you care for open wheel racing in N. America. Hopefully TG can keep the former 500 champs out of F1 and NASCAR in the future. |

It's not disappointing that Jacques went from CART to F1, it's disappointing that he's not in it anymore...
Downloading it now. |

Thanks Macdaddy! In my book all your vids are hot topics!
It was really great to see the Indy 500 again when it was really worth watching. |

Actually, I'm kinda surprised that nobody brought up the Stan Fox incident. That was something that I can never forget - one of the most horrific wrecks I've ever seen.

I suppose it's because you did not focus much on it, in your video, but yes, having seen the crash, it's incredible that he survived that.

I tried to avoid showing Stan's legs and feet. Pretty graphic.

I should dig through some of my old tapes and see what I come up with. What software do you use to convert and process your tapes macdaddy?

The last 500 I ever attended. Saw the Fox crash happen right in front, and by me (sitting in the southwest vista).
The one thing I do remember most was how well Steve Horne's team did the whole day. From my point of view (somewhat looking right down the front straight, but far away), it seemed to me Goodyear jumped the restart, and I was surprised they didn't throw the yellow immediatly. |

ysofast... It's not so much the software, as it is my new video card. But I'm using ATI's "TV" to capture, and editting using the basic "Windows Movie Maker".

Although I've only got a 350 processor, the vid card is ATI's "Rage 128 Pro".
