BTC to Super 2000

How easy would it be to convert a BTC spec car to the Super 2000 rules? That is if its even possible to do so!? I get the feeling a team like WSR or Vauxhall would prefer to modify their existing cars rather than build a whole new car. WSR probably have a smaller budget so it'd seem the cheaper option if its possible.

Not really possible.

Vauxhall are working on a Super 2000 car from scratch

Last rumour I heard about WSR was they were getting Chevvys from WTCC

From what I heard there's not much point in converting. Cheaper to buy an S2000 car.

Surely RML would be best placed to run the Lacetti in the BTCC? But would GM want two of it's brands competing against each other?

The Lacetti has it's own problems - it's too narrow under Super 2000 rules, which hands a serious handling advantage to the Seat which is wider than a land crab! Were it not for the breaks that they've been given to make it competitive, the Lacetti would be a back marker, and the WTCC needs competition to keep manufacturer interest.

Like has been said, to convert a BTCC spec car to S2000 would probably cost as much as the S2000 spec machine in the first place.

Rob.

As a non-works team WSR could continue with the MG for another season or two, although there will be some rule changes which mean they won't be up for any outright wins.

So running the Lacetti will be a good option than a restricted MG-ZS.

Maurer have done well with the Chevrolet in Germany, and WSR provided Maurer with their MG's, so a data share is also possible to get WSR on their feet with the car.

GM won't want to run two rival brands together on their budget, but is WSR (or RAC or whoever) are paying to run the other car they won't care.

If its worth it or not can be argued, probably isnt, easier to build a new car to S2000 spec from the begining then convert it.

From what I know, Rustad entered the BTCT Astra to the STCC in BTCT-Spec with a weight penalty. The new Opel is built to Super 2000, not a conversion IIRC.

The new STCC Astra is a full S2000.
If I remember well it's developed in cooperation with OPC.

I would expect WSR to build their own cars whatever they do.

Rustad's team took two Astras over time. One of which I believe remains in BTC-T spec but the newer car was converted to S2000 spec.

I'm not talking about the new Opel. The old one they took from BTCC was indeed converted over time to S2000.
