Check out the ad in Auto Action today. It appears common sense has prevailed and F4000 has decided to join the Series as well. No article in anti open wheeler AA ,of course, so we have to draw our own conclusions. With F3 , TransZam , Production Cars and the promising Touring Car Challenge also on the program it looks like it could be a good show. Now it is up to the powers that be at F4000 to ensure that the show looks good. I have heard reports that 26 of the new Holden V6 engines have been ordered by prospective competitors so at least that sounds promising. F4000 has copped a bit of flack for small fields and old cars in recent years but F3 will need to do better than the 12 car fields they had at some Rounds last year. F4000 and F3 should work together for the common good of single seater racing and stopped trying to be competitors. For open wheeler fans like myself however the AMRS should be a good thing.

Unfortunately, I can't see a GT Sportscars class getting underway for next year.

That is disappointing. I had heard just recently that Marque Sports and the Nations Cup boys were working on a GT format for 2005.

It is a pity especially since the rest of the world has (almost) united under a common rule book based on the GT1/GT2/GT3 systems.

Now, GT1 would be hard to sell and wouldn't find a place unless V8SC disappeared (unlikely). However, GT2 and GT3 would be a good place to start for an Aust GT Champipnship.

I have also been told that one potential three car team has folded because of the additional expense of the new engines. Money was there for a 2.5 car attack on the season featuring a young very talented driver who had previously run out of money and given up, buying a business. That's all gone now. Not the business just the FHolden campaign. Real shame

There are more announcements to come with AMRS, I've seen a new calendar plus some more categories still to join. I'll probably take ina few rounds away from home this year.

Yeah me too falcadore. It looks like essential viewing for 2005.

On the subject of GT Sportscars. On the Procar forums, discussions have outlined they there is infact still a group looking at GT Sportscars in 2005. It also said that people involved, have a good idea how to run a GT championship.

SOunds encouraging

Nice big ad in Auto Fiction today for the Wakefield Park round of the AMRS. Good to see they're on it early.

It's going to be tight for the F3 guys. They have the AGP a week after.

But two of those calenders are almost the same. And one of them has some dubious dates on it (i.e. the clash with the VMRC).

Again..... WTF?!?

Pretty negative post there.

In working with Marque Sports and basing the series around GT3 spec vehicles, there should be cars and interest.

If the organisers can get on the AMRS schedule, everyone can have a solid platform to go after the $$$$$.
