$1bn investment in race circuit planned
hi well this is good news
A billion dollars will be pumped into development of Bahrain's Grand Prix circuit, it was revealed. Hotels and tourism complexes built around the site top a list of infrastructure priorities. The Grand Prix, the first to be organised in the Middle East, 'is not only a sports event, it's a major economic investment. It is going to propel the tourism sector, in full force,' Bahraini economist Ahmed Al Yushaa said. One of the projects to be built: The race was expected to generate $74 million (BD28 million), according to a report by the Bahrain Study and Research Centre ahead of the event. Al Yushaa quoted Goys chief and circuit president Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa as saying that nearly a billion dollars will be invested to develop the infrastructure around the $ 150 million (BD56.7 million) track. |

This will put even more pressure on the 'old' European curcuits to invest, can almost hear Bernie's hands rubbing

well i can tell u that this is not a result of bernie, but rather bahrain had inital plans to develop the southern section of the country and the circuit just strengthened that will. Acutally if all the project go ahead, the figure should be around $2 billion. lets just hope so.

Wow! This "dusty track" could end up being one of the most
prized jewels in Formula One's crown! |

We will lose more and more races to Asia as long as the do gooders have their way. Is cigarette advertising banned in Bahrain. Seeing the word Camel on the side of a race car never made me go out and take up smoking.

From a friend of mine in advertising. fag ads are mainly to change smokers from on brand to another, peer pressure starts them smoking.

well smoking ads are allowed and u saw them on the race. In cinemas you also have them. And for the investment its going to be around the circuit and i suppose they will also improve the circuit itself.
