Did Jimmy Vasser ever race in Europe?

rpm.espn.com has an article about Brands Hatch claiming that Jimmy Vasser ran the short circuit in Formula Ford and the long circuit in F3000 in the early nineties. However, I can't seem to find any evidence of this online. A search of www.jimmyvasser.com was also futile. However, you guys should look at what Jimmy did between 1987 and 1991. Its truly surprising.

Does anybody know if Jimmy ran in Europe early in his career?

How well did he do? Did he show potential against the young European-based guys in the race? Anything which suggests that he could've made it towards F1.

Back in '98 there was a dull murmur of Vasser to BAR for '99. But obviously nothing ever happened with that.

It wasn't a rumour, I remember Jimmy saying that he wanted to think about it seriously because it was an interesting oportunity. He said he ultimately decided he would be better off at the front in CART then in the back of F1 and turned it down.

He was entered in the `90 Festival programme in a Lanan. I didn`t go for the day the heats were on but by the quarters he was not there - well not per my hand-written grid!! Whether he actually started his Heat (#3) or was a deletion I don`t know.
