Derek Cook
I've just learnt that Derek Cook has been killed in a car crash while holidaying in France.
"The accident happened in Monaco, where it is believed he travelled with his wife Winnie to celebrate her 60th birthday. Details of the crash which happened at the weekend are still unclear but it is understood Mrs Cook was injured and taken to hospital. The couple, from Wath, Rotherham, had been married for 39 years and have four children. French police are investigating the circumstances of the crash." As well as founding and building up the DC Cook group of car dealerships, he'd raced himself and fathered a couple of racers too. My condolences to Paula and David and the other members of the family whom I didn't know. |

Terrible news, he's one of my dads racing heroes and has always been good to our family.
Hope Winnie gets well soon. Our condolences to everyone in the family. |

Very sad news.
There was a time in Yorkshire when you could barely find a car without a DC Cook dealer sticker on it. |
