That's just the same previously announced public road network change that won't affect the profile of the circuit itself, right? Right?

Correct, track will stay the way it is (for now at least). Might make even more changes to the surroundings though.

Well that road goes straight through the Arnage campsite so I think the area there could end up looking quite different.

The track won't be changed in my opinion ; a roundabout is planned of this new road.
How could they change one of the famous place of motorsport ?

That was a modification : the Dunlop curve for bikes and the Mulsanne corner for the roundabout.
They have also changed the Tertre-Rouge corner three times since 1978.
But the circuit has remained similar since 1972.
The Indianapolis-Arnage sequence is dangerous and now useless for the daily traffic.

Or, the manufacturers want another brake zone for the hybrid systems.

The Dunlop run to the Esses was more than a modification for me, particularly so for the reason. Sheer, wanton vandalism, I'd say......

Yes, the photos of the Dunlop bridge and the straight line from the esse were splendid.

That looks very different to the earlier posted route and as said makes the camping and parking disappear under the new road construction.

Would be fun 56 racecars entering a roundabout.

Can't imagine they'll change the track at that point, it's just a new road to alleviate the danger at that crossroads (at the apex of Arnage). There will obviously be some changes to Arnage campsite though.

Can you imagine the confussion as to who has right of way and do you give way to the traffic on the roundabout or entering it and then there are the french drivers who will insist that it is their right of way because it is their country

Please can my french friends not take offence

Ah, the nub is at the end of that article:
The barrier in front of the plane trees will be reinforced by a tyre wall for several hundred metres. The road is being widened by about 1.5 metres.

Glad they've managed to come up with a solution without re-profiling.

If they are widening the road by 1.5m surely that can only be on the inside of the track and therefore there will be a slight change to the apex and therefore the optimum racing line?

Sounds like it will tighten the corner a bit, with the barrier moved in from trees and a tyre barrier in front of that.

Yeah, it says they're doing it on the stadium side.

Looking at this onboard: http://youtu.be/CzI93pMhaLM?t=38s , I think the track widening is not likely to have an effect on the line through TR, as the apex comes much earlier. Maybe they won't be able to carry as much speed through the corner as before, but the effect should be minimal. There's plenty of room on driver's left there.

From what I understood, the outside armco will be moved (permanently) 1,5 m to the inside, thus needing the road (not the track) to be enlarged. No real effect on the track itself

You're right Bernard here a picture taken today :
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-i...uge+14+Mao+-+1

The track will stay unchanged. Effectively the outside armco will be moved ti the inside with a permanent tyres' rank . Only the public road will be modified after the end of the curve.

The grass verges between Mulsanne and Porsche Curves are to go (at the behest of the FIA)

Quote:
The implementation of a gravel trap at the "Virage Corvette", requested by the FIA, is estimated to cost 620,000 € and the reinforcement of the RD 140 and 139 asphalt shoulders between Mulsanne, Arnage and the "Virage Porsche" 450,000 €.

Seen a tweet this morning saying that they are going to possibly tarmac over the grass on the runs between Mulsanne-Arnage and Arnage-Porsche Curves.

The press release isn't conclusive - but it's a big chunk of money being spent.
